SHeesh!

The sciffy boards can really be a breeding ground for anger sometimes.

I had commented that I didn't get the impression that Teyla was afraid in her scene with Sheppard -- flustered and confused but not afraid. I didn't feel the kiss was an act of violence so much as spontaneity. To which I received the response:

And when did you become a ( Read more... )

Sounds like a bit of an idiot to me. Personally, I thought the kiss scene and the throat scene were both examples of alien DNA affecting Shep's normal thought processes. I *guess* I could have misunderstood. :P

Hey Sabaceanbabe, thanks for the quick reply.

I saw that your new fic is up. I've been saving it as incentive -- I'm not allowed to read it until I've finished my work. Just so you know, I can't wait! Hopefull that means I'll work faster. ^_^

I just posted a similar reply into that thread at skiffy. :)

I hope you enjoy the fic and I'm flattered that you're using it as incentive!

Here's a reply I just got over at skiffy from Space Robot:

"I enjoyed it, but I won't blow smoke up your ass. There are a couple of points that bother me, and I wouldn't be surprised if you had your own reservations about them as well. If not, I'd like to read your reasoning. Anyway...

1. I don't think the Colonials (Tyrol in this case) think in terms of a Cylon "plan." Even if some do, it seemed inappropriate for Tyrol.

2. I can't imagine Tyrol swinging a wrench at anybody, much less a superior officer, under any circumstances, especially from behind. Such an attack would be cowardly, and out of character.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading it. Please continue."

It's point 2 that I find really funny, since the whole fic came about from that spoiler pic with the wrench. :P

Lol, even before I finished reading -- I laughed at #2 because I've seen that image. But then it's hard for me to be objective, I haven't seen that much of Tyrol and what I have seen hasn't made me his biggest fan. Plus, I gobble up most BSG spoilers and am always checking Dark Thoughts for updates. ^_^ Space RObot is in for a surprise though.

Unless, Tyrol ends up being a victim of the mysterious virus as well... ^_~

p.s. Thanks for sticking up for me. :)

Well you're braver than I am Jenn. I spent a fair amount of time haunting the skiffy and galacticastation boards, but way to much hostility for me, so I don't even check in any more. Then again, my hostility threshold is pretty low...I guess cause it just confuses me. Anyways.

That response you received was waaaay over the top. I guess all you can do is shake your head and feel bad for the person. :/

What surprised me most, I think, washowmny people agreed with the poster's coment.

You're right, I probably should avoid them too. The thing is there are those who leave very intruiging posts and I like to read/ support those. Unfortunately, things get heated a little too quickly.

Hidden_Elysium is such a haven in comparison -- everyone is always respectful, even when they disagree. I need to find an Atlantis comunity that is similar...

It bugs me in a way because the Internet was supposed to be a refuge for free speech and expression, but in its own way it's just as stifling as 'real society' with its unspoken rules on what is "right" and "wrong". I've seen Rules of Netiquette and the disdainful "this is how we do things around here" bastardisation of hapless newbies. Some Netizens are downright arrogant in their outlook on the world. I've come to the conclusion that I'm never going to 'persuade' someone to come around to my point of view on a topic on the Net and that many debates are merely just each side stating his/her view in a variety of different ways and not backing down.

You're more tolerant than I am in hanging out at boards like that. I love discussing things I like, having a lively debate/argument so long as it stays academic. The way I see it, all this is supposed to be fun and I've been involved in arguments on Usenet and discussion groups before that rankled and hurt far more than they should have - in the end it just wasn't worth it ( ... )

Yeah, what a completely inappropriate comment. It makes me annoyed that people immediately jump to conclusions and come out with the worst.
