So, I've been looking more and more at the military. At the pros and cons... This will be a list that I'll keep adding to and editing until I can flesh out this whole service thing. If you're reading this, feel free to add comments so I can build this list for myself. I need help with cons ( Read more... )

30 days vacationis EXCELLENT. I'm getting 15 for my first year at Google, and even if I work there more than 6 years I'd only eventually get up to 25.

I don't think any of the information you learn would be considered useless, but that's just my philosophical standpoint.

The recruiting officers don't always tell the truth. Get yourself over to see some people who have already signed in and let them tell you how it is for them.

Well, both my parents were in the navy at the enlisted level (which means they got the shit jobs). My brother was a marine. Two of my grandparents were army reserve. My aunt is army reserve. I was a navy brat for most of my life. Granted, I never actually worked for them but I know the lifestyle.

That makes a huge difference. Many don't, and get some sorry surprises. My grandson has found Army life to be difficult for him. My husband loved the Marine Corps.
