Contemplating...

So, I've been looking more and more at the military. At the pros and cons... This will be a list that I'll keep adding to and editing until I can flesh out this whole service thing. If you're reading this, feel free to add comments so I can build this list for myself. I need help with cons.

PROS

- Free health insurance that covers everything
- Free housing
- Free uniforms (which I'd be wearing about 80% of the time)
- Free food
- c. $30k a year (this may seem small to all of you cubicle people, but look at all the free stuff I get; the additional 10k you'd make would go to housing and food)
- Would go in as officer, not enlisted (i.e., not canon fodder)
- Training in a field of my choice (Intelligence. No, seriously.)
- Officer Candidate School for 13 weeks in Pensacola, Florida.
- If my aptitude tests are really good I could get picked up by an agency.
- They would pay for grad school should I desire to go
- Wouldn't necessarily be stuck in the US.
- 30 days vacation

UNSURES

- Torn between Navy and Air Force. Air Force has lots of rapes and plants you in the middle of nowhere. If I go Navy I'm following in my parents' footsteps, but I'd travel a lot and always be near the ocean and thus, a city. But then at times I'd be stuck on a ship with dirty sailors. But I could be a dirty sailor too.
- When I would start exactly
- I think I would be decent at it. I know the life.

CONS

- Boot camp for 8 weeks and dealing with authority
- Selling my soul to the man
- 2 through 6 year contracts
- Current political situation
- Possibly confined to a ship
- Possibly being sent to Iraq. The democrats must save me.
- Have to learn really useless information. I don't do well with trivial information.
- I spent $180k to go to MHC and get a degree in Ancient Studies
- With the Navy, I could end up in Guam. With the Air Force, I could end up in Bumfuck, Midwest.
