This morning,
tawdryjones and I rode our bikes to
Pennypack Park in NE Philly. The roundtrip from Center City was about 40 miles (Google says 38, but we had a few detours). The park itself is beautiful, a great paved trail that runs alongside a creek, lots of ups-and-downs and twists-and-turns to keep the trail interesting. We heard many birds and saw

On the other hand, there was at least a Dunkin' Donuts--I had the bizarre thought at one point that there was an eerie lack of Starbucks--and there were some unusual houses with gabled-roof facades, maybe around the 5400 block.

And I'll have to amend my post--it looks like Pennypack Park is pretty easy to get to from the Holmesburg stop on the Trenton line. Not that taking bikes on regional rail is all that easy--I'm sure they'd love me dragging my bike through Market East. But it might be worth it for a nature walk sometime.
