I read The Guardian online every day and I enjoy reading CIF. Theres lots of interesting perspectives on there. Today there is an article on the links between poverty and obesity which triggered me to write a rantette in the comments.

You can't tell by looking.

Hear hear. The "eat less, exercise more" thing really upsets me. I eat 1500-1700 kcals a day, and I work out 3-5 times a week (and I'm grateful that I'm able to). In the last 15 months of doing this, I've lost.... no weight at all. I'm paranoid that people look at me and think I'm lying about going to the gym & how much I eat... because obese people lie about what they eat all the time, don't they? (Sarcasm there!).

Hah. What's ironic is that I eat anything from 1800 to 3000 calories a day depending on what I'm doing and if I'm hypo. My weight is stable within seven pounds either way and has been since I had my gallbladder out in 2008. It was also stable at this point for a number of years before that, when I had my ovarian cysts removed ( ... )
