FWIW, my favorite technology for tracking expenses and general budgeting is google doc's spreadsheet program. I have a template set up for all my categories, along with how much I expect to spend in each category per month, and it's awesomely easy. It helps, though, that I pay for almost all my expenses with debit cards, which allows me to see all my expenses neatly listed online, and all I have to do is copy-paste from my bank's website.

If it makes it more manageable for you, I will personally come over and help you collect soil to be tested, or package it up and mail it off. If I recall correctly, UMass Amherst charges a flat fee ($45 when we did it) for testing more-than-one sample, so perhaps you and Dana could both send in samples at the same time.

Want to get together with kids, Thursday or Friday? for walking/playgrounds, time in one of our yards, etc?
