Camera Situation

May 01, 2011 18:55

Hey guys,
Sorry if this was asked already. I looked back and didn't see it. Those of you who have gone to shows on the U.S. tour so far, what has the situation with cameras been like? It doesn't say on the tickets they aren't allowed and as far as I know the tower theater doesn't have a policy on them. Any help is appreciated :)

help!

I think it's less a policy for MCR than it is for the venue.
It would differ from place to place. I know most places tend to not allow them, but if you sneak them in [I always put my camera in between my boobs since they can't really check there without having a lawsuit on their hands...] I've never been told to not take photos once you're there. :]

It's almost always the artist's decision, not the venues.

I've only ever heard of venues banning them; I guess I don't usually go to shows of artists that are that strict.

I had no problems bringing in a rather large point-and-shoot ultra zoom camera at the Portland and Seattle dates.

I know it's a venue-per-venue thing, so you might want to call ahead? Generally, I've been told "No professional cameras", but it's up to them to determine what that constitutes, but most places I've been to seem to draw the line at interchangeable lenses.

I went to the show in Des Moines, as long as it wasn't a professional camera they allowed them in. :)

You can bring non-professional cameras. Video and audio recording aren't allowed though so they may hassle you if they see you taking video.

It's been YEARS since I've been to any venue that didn't allow point-and-shoot cameras. They pretty much only have a problem with large professional cameras with removable lenses. Think about it - they can't ban cell phones, and every cell phone has a camera. So why would they ban point-and-shoot cameras? They did tell us not to use flash or video though.
