In terms of being in love, that saying "absense makes the heart grow fonder" is true but I don't always agree with it when it comes to other things that you love...for instance, yesterday I was so confused, angry, and depressed. good attitude! but, i'm pretty sure running will mess you up even more, since even on a treadmill it's pretty high-impact. i'd suggest an elliptical machine or something like that gazelle you had instead.

swimming would be best (no impact *and* it's strength training) but you can't do that at home.

i think yoga would probably be good for your alignment issues, but at least at first you'd probably want to go to classes to be sure your form is correct. you might be able to find a cheap/free class at your school, since colleges usually have something like that if they have a gym/wellness center.

I'm not going to be running on the treadmill. I'll just be walking briskly on it with incline. As far as yoga and pilates, I've done it before my back got really bad. It's gentle enough where I don't have to worry about injuries. Thanks for the good luck and the advice.
