More figure skating controversy?

Well, I've been watching the World Figure Skating Championships on-and-off this week and suddenly, I realized something interesting. But also potentially offensive so . . .

CAUTION: Clicking this may ruin your viewing experience of figure skating forever! )

*g* I always love your entries, Kevin, even if I'm too lazy to comment most of the time. Another winner!

If you replace "lazy" with "busy" I think that's probably more accurate for a field workin' grad student like yourself. ;) And if you replaced "winner" with "lapse into madness" . . XD

Thanks for reading!

Hee. Brave soul. You're the first person I've ever met who talked about Exhibit A when it comes to skating...

And those chalk pictures are so awesome squared.

Have we met? ;)

I know, I love the Batman one. Which one's your fav? There's also a couple more on his official site including this really sad one: http://users.skynet.be/J.Beever/typical.htm

I've always wondered about figure skating's obsession with women's crotches myself. A most puzzling conundrum!!

Glad I'm not the first one to notice this. ^^ Yeah, I don't think there is another sport with this many panty flashes.

Hm, I know nothing about clothing material, so that was a very insightful read. Thanks. ^^

I actually don't have a problem with the skirts, it was just something funny I noticed so I wanted to make fun of it. :) I think I prefer the skating of today than yesteryear . . I heard back then triple-spins were banned from womens skate because it was too unladylake. o_O

Hm, that French guy sounds like that Russian guy my friend just posted about: http://lil-razzberry.livejournal.com/172955.html

Vivaldi's Four Seasons (mix and match which seasons) seem to show up a lot still, as does incidental music by Debussy, Chopin, etc. for short programs. I think the Eastern European skaters like skating to Smetana's "Moldau" for its rather grand pace, and its swelling orchestral arrangement.

I think it's about time that they started using instrumental rollerdisco music (but not Rocky); there's enough temporal distance for the music to be taken seriously.

Do you remember when Elizabeth Manley did 'Jack and the Beanstock?'
