Juno was wonderful; the best film of last year, I thought. Why didn't people like it?

Whoa, we agree on another film?? I'm playing the lotto this week! ;)

I think the critics are complaining that it's too upbeat, unrealistic and pretentious. I personally disagree, I thought it was pretty real, and I'd rather seen an encouraging story than a super angst "get rid of the child now!! it's your only choice!!" kinda stories like they'd probably do in Japan. Actually, I heard the jdrama "14 sai no Haha" was just like that. ^_^;

As much as I love my name, if I ever have kids, I'm definitely going with something very different. Hmm, maybe I'll name them after cheese . . Colby if it's a boy, Brie if it's a girl? :)

The only Colby I know is a girl. Her name secretly makes me laugh.

OTOH, I named my son after my mother (It's her family name so it's masculine-sounding ...)

I was always going to have a girl and name her Susannah after my grandmother but by sister and my cousin beat me to it. I also liked the family names Esmerelda and Morgiana. Geraldine, Edith and Mildred, not so much.

I also considered Catriona.

On balance, I think it's good I had a boy.

Whoa, can Colby be a girl's name? My back-up plan is Monterey Jack. I'd have to get him a cowboy hat though.

Hey that's cool, it's just when people name their kids after themselves that bugs me in a "My name shall live on forever and echo through the annals of history through my spawn" sorta way. :)

I like your name choices, there's something fantasy-ish about them. ^_^ So what did you name your son?

I guess they are fantasy-ish! I hadn't thought of it that way.

His name is Thompson, but he prefers Tom. A lot of people call him Tomas (I can't make this keyboard do the accent, but it's the spanish spelling) but I think it's more because they don't realize (either that it's not his name or he's not actually latino).

I adored Juno. I just thought it was sweet and funny.

Well, at least that Kevin dude isn't as bad as George Foreman....

Exactly, how anyone couldn't like Juno is beyond me but oh well.

Whoa. I think I know where Kimbo Kev got his inspiration. o_O I bet when George dies, his sons are going to invest in some name changing.

Ahahha. Kimbo Slice has kids? Dude that IS scary. But didn't George Foremen name all his kids after himself? Wiki says: Foreman has 10 children, and each of his five sons is named George: George Jr., George III, George IV, George V, and George VI. He is able to distinguish one from another by the use of nicknames such as "Monk", "Big Wheel" and "Little George".[3] His five daughters are Michi, Freeda, Georgetta, Natalie, and Leola.

I wonder why he didn't just name his daughters George too? :P

Y'know, your name choices actually sound pretty good... I've heard of at least one person named Colby (don't remember where) and Brie could be short for Briana or something... or could sound like it is...

And I always thought it was narcissistic, too, the "junior" thing. Like it's not another person, but a continuation of yourself... You 2.0. I am Alan. And I'm sure I'm pretty awesome, but my kid, if and when that happens... won't be another me. Why wouldn't I give an individual an individual name?

Then again, being named Kevlar might not be so bad... of course, someone might want to test out how bulletproof you were...

Whoa, you're still alive?? Congratulations on living!!

Well, they're definitely less obvious than Havarti and Feta. :)

I think that the naming your kids after yourself phenomena is more popular with the rich, like passing on your success by giving your kid a successful name? You don't see it as much among the middle class.

Haha, I didn't know Kevlar was a metal until now. I figured Kimbo was trying to merge his name with an alien's.
