Summary: Nanao has asked for Lisa's company on an outing on her day off. They may find more than the quiet walk and conversation they went looking for.
It felt almost peculiar to be out of uniform, without the heavy silk bindings of the lieutenant's badge bunching up her sleeve. She was still dressed pragmatically in warm kimono and haori, a scarf wrapped around her head to keep away the wintry breeze. As she came up to the gate at Ugendou, she politely informed the guard that she was here to see one of Commander Ukitake's guests, and walked in as the door was opened for her.
She supposed it was easy for Lisa to agree to her request of accompanying her. In the current atmosphere, there was little that the Vaizard could do but endure best as they could, and the days must run long with relatively little to do. They had sat together a few times, and Nanao found herself entertaining hopes of cultivating a closer bond with the woman who had once been her mentor. Their respective positions had changed greatly, but that did not mean they had nothing worthwhile to share.
The reasons for her request had been... well, both simple and complex. She felt an uncommon desire to talk, and had kept back some things that were best laid in the open before the other woman heard them from some other source. There was also a place, pleasant for a long walk, that would bear closer inspection, and Nanao could admit she was not above mixing some business with the pleasure of the company of a new-old friend.
She gave the door an even knock, knowing where Lisa's room lay from an earlier visit. She was a little early, but hopefully that might not matter. "Yadoumaru-san? It's Nanao. Are you ready?"
