Characters: Mugurma Kensei & Hisagi Shuuhei
When: Sunday, January 18th, around 8PM
Where: Ninth Division Headquarters
Rating: PG? PG-13 for drinking?
Summary: After hearing about what happened to Kensei, Shuu gets the courage to talk to him again. Drinking times is a go! (( NOTE: Sentimental lyrics, STFU ))

In the strangest way, Shuuhei felt like he was getting ready for a date. Of course it was nothing of the sort, but he was awkwardly nervous. Not only was it the first time he had seen Kensei since the trails, but it was the first time he had been able to talk to the man out of his own volition, and as a new Captain. A man who was holding Kensei's previous position. It made the whole thing kind of a mess in Shuuhei's mind, but alienating the man he had looked up to for over a century because he was afraid of his approval or disapproval was childish, and Shuuhei could not pretend to be a child anymore.

The Division quieted down significantly after hours, at least as long as a deadline wasn't right around the corner. Printers stopped rolling and the editing and conference rooms filed out. A few of the higher seated officers stayed behind to finish up their duties, Shuuhei was one of them. Though he was rarely ever behind, his time spent off the clock often accounted for some of it. He didn't really mind, though, but for a while it was hard for him to concentrate.

It had taken him a long, long time to think of a response to Kensei's few sentences, and they were more loaded than their word count permitted. They were touching, made him feel proud, made him feel guilty, made him feel like he had a lot to live up to and made him feel like he was close to betraying it all. It made him feel a lot of things, and he was still sorting his feelings out. Kensei was a smart man, though, and he eventually just needed to bite the bullet and talk to him rather than hide behind the haori (or moreso the desk, quite literally).

It was still a little strange for him, so once that clock signaled that regular office hours were over, Shuuhei took it off and left it rest on the back of the chair. He really didn't want Kensei to come in and see the whole picture that way, either. He wasn't sure what the other man was expecting, and more so, what he was wanting.

[soul society], muguruma kensei, hisagi shuuhei
