... Orange? Why would Kurosaki... ? He cut himself off, eyes narrowing. It wasn't right: the voice was different, the mannerisms different, and Kurosaki should be in the clutches of the Central 46 now. Adrenaline still running high, he spoke. "What the hell?" Not quite what he was planning on saying, but only an idiot would try assaulting a captain now. Tensions were running high. Hitsugaya himself felt like he was a too-tightly wound string, just waiting to snap.
He stared at what looked like Kurosaki for a moment before it clicked. He'd known that voice -- he'd already made note of it. That damned annoying voice. He'd heard it so many times, in the Living World and over the network. "Kon?"

Kon peeked up from the ground, not bothering to stand yet, and blissfully unaware of the fact that he'd nearly gotten a kidou fired at him. Angry green eyes, whole face pulled into a deadly little scowl? Yep, this was Toushirou, all right. And he remembered him! He was safe!
"Oh, good you remember me! You have no idea what a relief it is to finally see a friendly face around here!"
Not that Toushirou looked very friendly at the moment. But that was a minor detail, really.

"What are you doing here?" He gestured vaguely. "And get up." Maybe if he was standing up, he wouldn't start grabbing at ankles. He looked a little desperate and that threw red flags up: anyone who looked that desperate usually had a serious problem.
Or they thought they had a serious problem and would annoy anyone they came across with their inane troubles.

Then what Kon was saying actually caught up to his mind and Hitsugaya stilled. Caught and taken to the labs? Well, hell... Unbidden -- and frankly unwanted -- a wave of empathy decided to choose that moment to crash through him. Hitsugaya grabbed Kon's shoulder, pulled, and half-yanked, half-gestured back toward the Tenth's offices.
"If you don't want that, you need to stop yelling." Prodding Kon again in the shoulder, he hissed, "Get on your feet and get into my office. Call me Toushirou again and I'll call Kurotsuchi myself."
