Characters: Hitsugaya Toushirou, Unohana Retsu When: Friday, April 9, late evening Where: Tenth Division, Hitsugaya's quarters Rating: PG-ish. Summary: Hitsugaya pulled a stupid. Unohana has been enlisted to help repair the damage.
That he flexed his knee was not a cause for concern. It was a natural reaction. In any case, a complete absence of movement would result in stiffened muscles, so a minimum of activity would be beneficial. Keeping his work to the office would provide an effective enough balance.
She bowed her head respectfully. "It was no trouble. If you are satisfied with the treatment, I shall leave you to rest."
Unohana would take him at his word that he would be more careful this time. More often than not, his word could be trusted.
"I am." How could he not be? He didn't hurt anymore. (Well, he did, but it was negligible compared to earlier in the day.) Rest, though, would come later. He had a good many things to catch up on, after being useless for the last half of the day. True to his word, though, it involved simply sitting at the table with paperwork and tea. The only walking he'd do would be to the next room.
He dipped his head, echoing her respectful nod. "Afraid I won't be seeing you to the door," he said, just a touch wryly.
Hitsugaya shifted, moving carefully and willing away the urge to press his fingers to his knee, and sat up to lean on the table. The files he needed were there, the tea was hot and waiting; good. Everything was set up. He'd work a couple hours, then get some rest.
He nodded toward her again. "I'll send a message if it gets worse." It wouldn't; he'd be careful of it, but he could... make concessions. It wasn't quite admitting he was wrong, not aloud.
An amused smile crossed her lips at his remark. His pain must have lessened considerably for him to speak thus. She was glad to see it.
"Quite all right," she said with a touch of humour. "I do rather expect that I can manage the feat on my own."
She rose to her feet, crossing the room toward Minazuki. Slinging the blade over her shoulder once again, she glanced over and offered Hitsugaya-taichou a brief nod.
"Then I shall hope not to hear from you," she said, her voice still light.
Unohana closed the door behind her after she left, leaving only the moonlight to guide her steps through the Tenth Division grounds. But the moonlight was all she needed.

He could deal with that.
