The First Law Trilogy, by Joe Abercrombie

I finished this trilogy a couple of days ago. It's high fantasy dragged through gritty reality. The characters are gritty, with varying degrees of education, morality, and social ability. It was riveting. I didn't even skip stuff, like I usually end up doing when there is too much description going on, and not enough story. The dialog is fantastic ( Read more... )

ooooooh.

I've been looking for a series since Inkspell. I'm gonna check it out tomorrow.

You know, I hadn't done any...and I do mean any...."reading for the joy of it" for years. I ordered the Inkspell trilogy for Lil miss B and became absorbed myself (I have a major crush on Dustfinger). I hadn't realized how much I missed it.

I'd be happy to pass on the copies that I have. You won't want to leave this one around where she can accidentally pick it up. There's a good deal of profanity in it, but it doesn't come across as gratuitous. I read all three books in a week. I was that riveted. I've been meaning to read the Inkspell trilogy. It looks fun.
