So john_scorpy asked for a tutorial of this icon, and here I am trying to explain myself the better I can. Hope it's actually useful and not just a lot of babbling. :DDD

Oh this is ingenious! I love how you used gradients to color it, omg, I can't believe you got that unique gorgeous unusual coloring from such a neutrally colored cap. That is coloring magic right there and definitely inspires me to try gradients more often :) And I love what you dod with the textures too!

Thank you so much for writing this!!

I'm not really sure HOW I iconned before gradients and gradient maps. LIKE HOW DID I DO STUFF BEFORE. You should try them, they are awesomeeeesause.

It was fun to do, sorry I skipped some of the basic steps, I hope you found it usueful anyway :DDD

Oh I use gradient maps alll the time, they're my number 1 coloring method I think! :D But just gradients, I mostly use them for lighting (on those rare occasions when I'm even making a lighting.y ivcon) but never really thought of using them directly for coloring purposes. But it worked fantastically in your icon and I'm really tempted to try coloring with them (though my results wouldn't be anywhere near as awesome as yours!).

Really, fantastic tutorial! And don't worry I don't mind minor step skipping, after all I'm reading it to get tips rather than to make an exact replica of your icon, lol :D

Ay, I thought I had answered this like three times already only to check I HADN'T YET. Ooops. Gradient maps tbh have been my ast adition and I mostly use them for contrast, although I'm playing more with colouring and such. And I'm sure they would! It's such a fun way to use colour tbh :D

I'm glad then :DDD
