It's probably the City, not you. It can bring people from different versions of their world, so it's entirely possible that he knew an alternate version of yourself. That would explain the differing memories.

It's certainly possible, I've seen it happen before. Alternate timelines, where events occured differently. For example, consider a big decision you made in life. Had you made it differently, your life would have followed a different path. It's entirely possible, given the way this City functions, that there's another you out there, living THAT life. Or he could even know a you from a future time that you yourself haven't experienced yet.

That is so strange. I hadn't even thought that possible. If that's true, that makes everything so much more complicated. Has anyone ever run into another version of themself?

Good that I spoke to you first, then. It would be better for us to remain as healthy as possible since the ill or injured can do much less and do not always think as clearly as those who are well.

I need to pick up a few items first; namely food with a long shelf life, a couple bottles of water, and more ammunition. If we can’t make him return to the surface, leaving human food once in a while should at least show we still care about his quality of life. The ammunition’s staying with me, and the reasons for that are pretty obvious. I’ll let you know when I have everything, then we can pick a time to set out.

Do you think we should stay with him for a day or two, at least? He really might want his own space, but I don't want him to feel abandoned. You're right, though. If all else fails, we can at least bring him things. I can come with you while you pick up your supplies, and then we can leave directly.
