I don't know why on earth people I've never even met decided that I, for some reason, am not real, among other things, but it's happened way too many times this morning for me to pretend it isn't happening. Let's get this over with.

Of course I'm a real person. I have a birth certificate. I have a Social Security card. I have a library card

I like both for different reasons. The bittersweet fairy tales are closer to life, and there are times when you want to read something that you already feel personally familiar with. But without the happy ones, the world would be too bleak. I think we have to have that balance. What do you think?

We probably have. I'm partial to Little Red Riding hood, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, and The Lady of Shallott.

I just don't like the disney versions much. They're too happy. But I like the original ones that are happy too, although I do love the grimm ones. It just depends on how they portray it. Like in Snow White, isn't it a bit creepy that the prince married the girl when he only just saw her body dead in a coffin and kissed her?

I love every single one of those. You have excellent taste.

I like the Disney versions, but the original stories are better, you're right. I guess they were going for an extremely literal version of love at first sight, but it is a little weird. And in the Grimm version, Snow White was only seven years old. It doesn't say exactly how much time she spent in her sleeping death, and it's true that girls used to marry a lot younger then, but still.
