( So this is my first BSG fic ever. It was inspired by watching 'Sacrifice' again with my friend who is watching the show for the first time. It's also the first fic I've actually sat down to write (instead of just thinking about writing) in a very long time. It was written in an afternoon and as my first fic back it hasn't been beta-read by anyone, so you've been warned. I'd love any feedback (positive or constructive criticism) that you have to offer! )

Aw, Billy :( And Laura :(

I do adore moments between the two of them, and the conversation they have is so sweet. And I like the way you tied Laura's thoughts into her relationship with Adar and how that might her see herself a little differently.

Thanks for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed the conversation...do you think this could count as a laura/billy fic for the charity drive or does the / automatically imply a romantic relationship? Also silly question, but I can't seem to figure it out, how do I add a link to this on bgs_epics?

It definitely does. If it says 'gen', then it means specifically non-romantic (and the Laura&Billy request was one of mine anyhow, so yes, it definitely counts ;) )

To link it, go over to Epics and to the other comm and make a post there with all of your title/rating/word count information, and then you make a link to this fic by putting <*a href="this URL"*>Your fic title<*/a*> (remove the *'s I've put in and don't leave a gap, and put in the URL to this page).

I hope that makes sense!

Thanks again! I'm still having a bit of trouble making the link look pretty (I did some googling, but it didn't really help), but at least the link works and hopefully with a little bit more time fiddling around on LJ I can figure out how to make it look cleaner.

Poor, sweet Billy!
This was very well-written and had a nice flow to it. A really interesting look into Laura's thoughts and feelings after losing her surrogate son. :( Thanks for posting it to the charity drive!

In spite of the depressing subject matter, there's a genuine sweetness to this story. I think Laura's relationship with Billy was different from anyone else in the fleet. I suspect that Laura saw a bit of herself in Billy's idealism and vulnerability. Also, both of them were both intuitive and intelligent. I keep remembering Billy's 'I know' when Laura told her she had cancer. Billy and Laura's conversation mirrored that moment. She knew exactly what was bothering him. Nicely written.

Thanks! I've always loved that little moment between Billy and Laura in the miniseries, I think it beautifully defines their relationship for the next couple of seasons.

This really mirrors how I felt about the Lee/Dee relationship coming so soon after Billy's death. I know we saw it brewing and that Billy didn't really have a chance but Laura wouldn't have known that and you really captured her shock and pain here. Nicely done and welcome!

I will still never forgive the writers for the stupid Dee/Lee story line. Besides stomping all over the Billy we all love it just never made sense. But what evah! I like the scenes you wrote for Laura nad Billy. His stumbling over his words is so IC. Nicely done.

I do so love the adorable tripping-over-his-words Billy, and it make me very irked with the writers that they chose to put Lee ad Dee together so soon after his death (or, you know, at all). Thank you for taking the time to read and leave me a comment, I really appreciate all of the feedback I can get as I start writing :)
