Senri pokes his head out the door, looking right just to make sure. You never know what might be a trap in this place. He saw one of the squid drive away in a tiny ATV the other day and has since been a little wary.

But sure enough, there's a blanket and food. Out Senri goes, dragging Taiki along with him.

It is not Imogene who greets the men, but Arisa. She is a plump woman in her early 20s with a round face. Her dress is loose and unflattering and her hair is pinned up messily behind her head, but she has a wide smile on her face and is offering up a plate of brown rolls as they approach.

"Hello!" She calls in a confident voice with a notable accent. "Are you friends of Imogene? Come, sit down, eat, yeah?"

"Friends of... Imogene." Senri has to think about that one. Have they actually ever had a conversation outside of bickering? Perhaps when they talked about Valentine's Day plans...

But then Arisa offers up food and Senri forgets all about that. He's starving. As it turns out, the life of a small business owner -even a designer- is at times not so glamorous. Senri plucks two rolls off the plate and sits nearby, making sure to keep away from grass stains. One roll is passed over to Taiki, who takes a seat as well. "Thank you. I'm Senri. Did you set this up?"

Taiki thanks her as well before quietly picking at the bread. As usual, he's content to sit off to the side while Senri socializes. Though he does give Imogene a smile and nod by way of greeting.

Arisa puts down the plate, but, seeing that Senri is thin, feels the need to feed him further and casts about for something else to offer.

"I'm Arisa. I used to cook for Imogene and the others on the ship when we were sailing. Nothing like this though. Have some olives?"

A dish for him to use himself comes his way as she talks, as well as some olives. It is soon followed by kind of salad with letice, pepers and slices of fish in a light dressing.

"It was Imogene's idea. She stole the blankets and set them up, but she slipped me some money to get the food together. I wish she had given me a clearer idea of how many people were coming but...I don't think she planned it very thoroughly."

Copper opens the door and sniffs the air. Her strong wolf nose picks up the inviting scent of food, though perhaps there are too many vegetables to her liking. But it will be nice to eat a meal under the open sky again with a group of people, just like she used to.

She maintains her human shape so that she doesn't startle the others already relaxing on the blankets. Tugging her fur-lined coat close against the breeze, she walks out and waves.

Arisa turns and nudges Isme, who sits up and looks at Copper. She squints for a second and then sits up and waves.

"I think I know her from school"

"That's nice." Arisa says, closing the basket again. "What's her name?"

At this question Imogene blinks blankly at her older friend. She then stands up.

"I'll go find out." She says, walking towards the girl.

"Hi!" She says. "Here for the picnic? Come sit down. You go to the school here, right?"

"Thanks," Copper flashes a shy smile and accepts the offer of a seat. She tucks her legs under her before continuing. "Yes. I just started here, actually, so I don't really know many people." She looks down at that, then remembers what her pack mother taught her about humans and sticks out her hand. "My name's Copper."

Imogene accepts the hand, smiles and shakes. "Imogene!" She makes a face as she lets go "I guess that's why I didn't remember your name. I'm fairly new there myself, and I keep having to miss for...family stuff."

She reaches down for a pastry, but, looking at Arisa and remembering her manners, Imogene frowns and takes up the whole plate instead and offers it to the newly arrived guest.

"Would you like a cream puff?"

Ghost sits down on a blanket with a guitar on his lap. He's not particularly good with the guitar, definitively not some wild voodoo, diamond edge player conjuring madness through the chords, but his voice is gold and gravel with a slight Carolina twang makes up for it.

Taiki has spent the past couple of minutes staring at the musician. He doesn't approach until he's sure he won't be interrupting.

So incredibly pinged by similar aura colors. Why hello fellow 'psychic'. Have a very thin and quiet aura-reading/empathetic/spirit-seeing/supernatural researcher.

"Hello."

Similar indeed--Different lives, different countries, different worlds--same person, if that's possible.

"Hey there."

Ghost smiles and offers up the guitar.

Ah. Taiki holds up his hands, palms out and politely declining. "I do not play." He doesn't actually know the first thing about music. "I am Kayashima." A little awkward when it comes to conversations -especially initiating them- but he means well.

Tyrone Albrecht adjusted his glases for the thirteenth time that day. He wasn't sure how he got here. He was supposed to be on the Midway eating his typical lunch of croisants, salumi and swiss with coffee. But the spread did look appetizing. The lean archeologist decided to try the picnic.

But the more he looked arround at the people there, the less certain he was he belonged.

Emery Thibodeax, of late Emery Baliot had been to only two of these sort of functions, but she had noticed that they seemed to attract new people, unused to the peculates of loft functions. The man in front of her appeared to be such a person. She tapped him on the shoulder.

Emery was a short blonde woman in a navy blue uniform. She tilted her head and asked. "Pardon. Are you new here?", all the while trying to keep her smile small so the man did not think she was merely teasing him.

yay! Someone's talking to the poor young man! heart_of_adc March 24 2011, 16:52:29 UTC
Tyrone was startled by the tap on the shoulder and almost dropped his plate. Human interaction of any sort was always awkward but with a few close associates and his father. Neither of which were here to be a calming factor.

"D'wah!" he yelped trying to regain composure. "Um... yes, I am new here." He fought to overcome his instint to keep his face turned away and looked the young woman in the eyes. "What is this place? I was at the University of Chicago a moment ago."

Emery grinned. Newcomers were so easy to spot. She took a seat beside the young man to make conversing more convient.

"This? This is a picnic. But inside, it's the Loft. To my knowlege it is not anywhere near Chigago."

Emery hadn't spent much time in World's end proper and didn't know to name it, but she had spent a good deal of time in the Loft. "It's a kind of...place between places. People from different times, differnt planets, different storybooks and things show up there. I met Sherlock Holmes once. That kind of thing. Don't worry, the food's safe, at any rate."

Imogene, in the middle of conversation, glanced down to see ants carrying off an entire cream puff. She made a face, removing the burden from the ants' back and placing it back on the plate, then turning back to her conversation. It was no sooner that she had done so however, than she realized the plate was moving. She picked this up as well and swatted at them. "Blasted little things..." she said.

Imogene frowned. She glanced from the ants, all around. These were no normal ants! She did not have long to think on the matter however, before the blanket lurched a little and she noted the ants on the edges.

"Hey now!" she shouted
