The obvious seasonal question...

"So let's hear it. What will you be for Halloween this year?"

A grumpy yet still fabulous man is offering a very judgmental look while he waits for the answer.

I'm still deciding whether to go as the scary girl from the Ring series, or to go as Death from the Sandman series.

Eww... Really? You could be anything you want for one night and these are what you choose?

More of convenience, really.

But if I could go as anything I wanted, whoa boy. I would go as a Disney Princess (Tiana) or as someone from "Avatar the Last Airbender". Maybe I'd go as Toph Bei Fong (I have the height, the hair, and the wit)

Lazy.

I have no idea what most of your costume ideas are. The only ones I recognize are the princess and the Ring character.

Oh, is there to be a fancy-dress party? {Have a bouncy Alice}

I shall have to think of something suitable!

It's a party where you can dress in any costume you'd like. You could be a cat or a ghost or a princess... Anything.

That is what I meant, of course.

{She will now ponder what sort of costume she might be able to come up with!}

As time is short, I suppose I shall have to base my disguise on my present wardrobe ... I'm sure I will think of something!

{{OOC: For last year's Halloween party, she dressed up as one of the Muses, but then I failed at threading.}}

There are various story characters. You could go as one of the dancing princesses or the crane woman.

I still haven't decided... Maybe you could help me out. I'm trying to pick out something new, something that I don't already own. I have a pretty big collection of costumes already. Which do you like best: A or B?

dainty_ofcourse October 22 2011, 07:33:17 UTC
...What is the first one? You're not actually supposed to wear the slacks, are you?

Ninja. Or would that be in some way culturally offensive?

...I couldn't wear that without pants. Not outside the bedroom, anyway.

Culturally offensive? No. I don't care, at least.

I'm telling you, it will look just as ridiculous with those bottoms. Really? What ninja wears patent leather dress shoes?

{A bouncy, giggly, slender young girl, maybe in her early teens brightens at the question}

Oh! Well, I think I might try and make a cyclops costume. Or maybe put together fake armor and go as a Knight! I could make my friend Vlad dress up as a manticore and it'd be perfect!

Group costumes are good. ...Especially when you make others be the less appealing roles.

shadowling October 22 2011, 07:54:49 UTC
Well, I'm pretty sure it's arguable whether or not the cyclops is the worser role, or the manticore is...

I thought you were to be a knight and the friend the manticore? That puts you in the hero light.

"Nahcow! I am going to an an ASTRONAUT. There's never been a GIRL astronaut before!"

SO PROUD OF THIS. (Being 8-almost-9, she has been shielded somewhat from the realities of women in space.)

"...There hasn't?" He... actually has no idea. "Won't that be an uncomfortable costume?"

"No! It's all soft and squishy! I could wear it alllll day if I wanted!"

This may not be true, but the astronaut suits LOOK comfy on tv!

There is SUCH an urge to try and convince her to be a princess or something prettier... but he has actually learned a lesson! After bungling things last time he is more mindful of how he talks to the young and impressionable.

"But you shouldn't because by the end of the day it would smell terrible."
