this is really powerful and really great. I think in fanfic it's all too easy to forget that Dean is human, that he might actually have a friend, and that Cassie might be that friend. Thanks for reminding us!!!

Dean's humanity is my weak spot. That and that he really just wants to be a regular guy.

I absolutely LOVED this! I've thought now and again about Sam keeping up a correspondence with one or more of his Stanford friends, or Sarah Blake, but never thought about Dean keeping in touch with Cassie. It makes perfect sense, the way you've laid it out here.
