I really admire your outlook on how you deal with your kids fighting and cursing and whatnot. For some reason lately, I've been thinking a lot about how I would raise my own children, if I ever have any. Your rationale has really given me some insight. Thank you. :)

Thanks! I'm like that parent other kids wish they had acording to my children (at least when I'm not making them do something they hate, like cleaning their room. I do insist that when I can no longer see the floor, it's time to clean the room). Their little friends can't believe that their mom and dad play video games with them (and kick their little butts, we do!) and allow them to curse within reason

When someone says that you shouldn't drink with a drink in their hand, or that you shouldn't smoke when they've got a cigarrette in their mouth ... I have an exact image of my father doing that same thing to me when I was 6. He also openly dealt drugs and told me I should never try them. Small wonder I couldn't wait to get my grubby hands on them as soon as I found out what drugs REALLY were

I went to Catholic and public schools both- and my advice is- if you live in a fairly decent area, where kids aren't being treated like they're in a maximum security prison- public school is great. Otherwise, go private or home school
