I'm new to Live Journal, and these "claim" communities strike me as quite odd but intriguing at the same time. What exactly are these things? What do you get out of them? Is there a list of "claimed" characters available? Thanks.

If so, I'll cancel my claim for Soundwave from Transformers (animated series), and instead claim Almighty Tallest Purple from Invader ZIM (animated series).
