I keep meaning to catch up on my Tudors, but I keep slacking, along with my Breaking Bad, and I need to start on The Wire, and Burn Notice, and Royal Pains, and omg, just every well reviewed series from the last ten years!!!

How far are you? I do think the quality slacks off after Season 2...it's still good, just not OMG!!isfdjnhehbjlkj good.

That's an awesome list but I think you can skip Royal Pains. Not impressed.

Would be really interested in your take on The Wire, but set aside a chunk of time. It's a serious commitment ;0

I'm putting the wire on reserve at the library now, and if I'm super far back on the list, I'll delve into finding it on the internets for free! I really need to finish season 2 and 3 of Breaking Bad though!

So just to be clear, when it comes to The Tudors, I watch for the story, and the stellar acting.

lol. Is that like reading Playboy for the articles? I reckon it is.

Glad you are a Tudorite, Viva. I'm not keen on Jonathan RM at all, although I think he plays Henry so well (I'm one of these lovers of history that perceive Henry to be a bit of a rockstar of the times, so JRM fits that bill for me). I do tend to agree that he hasn't aged enough by Anne of Cleeves and jane Seymour, but, as you say, you watch for the stellar acting. *g*

James Frain as Cromwell is amazing too - a scene stealer like Sam N and Jeremy N) wonderful acting.

I also love the portrayal of Katherine of Aragon, Mary (AB's daughter) Anne B and the bastard Boelyn family.

Haven't watched Season 4 yet. Have you?

Enjoying your memememememem. Interesting reading.

Yes, Jonathan R-M's portrayal of Henry will forever be remembered for his acting prowess. *cough* I guess what he brings to the party is that aspect of being a beautiful trainwreck, which counts for something, dunnit? He was in that movie Velvet Goldmine, with Ewan McGregor, which I remember liking quite a bit, before I knew who he was. I think he played the beautiful trainwreck character. *g*

I love The Tudors! Can be wildly historically inaccurate at times but it's hard to care with the amazing chemistry between Henry and Anne Boleyn. I was definitely missing her after season 2!

I loved Anne Boleyn and Thomas More both, when they were um..."written out" at the end of Season 2 it was a big loss. They were the two best characters but then, you can't really re-write the script, can you? LOL.
