Hot action at WB tonight. Short but solid open mic. Versez (sp?) came out and blew our socks off with a great feature. i'm not sure what the title was, but the 'to life' poem was brilliant

Right poems at the right time, brother. It ALWAYS comes down to that, and it is this magic theory that keeps confounding poets everywhere, slam after slam.

I thought some folks were rusty, but after all the missed weeks, that's to be expected. It's hard to bring heat in a room when you've been practicing to yourself. If someone had videotaped last night, I know some of the poets would have been mortified, new poems or no.

(I'm saying some of this here so I won't get flamed in my own journal.) ;-)

Again, awesome job. I love that first piece, I really do. If someone who wasn't in that situation performed it, it would still be powerful. Knowing that it's YOUR situation really knocks the wind out of an audience.
