Thoughts on the beer in my house

By now you know I like beer. You may know my preferences and dislikes of the beverage. Buying beer is a tough decision sometimes. Does one go for quality, or quality? Depends on the situation. Planning is involved. What is the purpose of this purchase of beer? Is it to sip and enjoy? To have more than one to relax? Or to get so buzzed the ( Read more... )

beer, beer is good

I wish we could drop into Eagle Provisions in Brooklyn and pick up some Russia, Polish or Czech equivalents to Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale. I hear you. I'm currently washing down my Chinese chicken with some Yuengling Porter.

I can't drink much of the strong stuff, unless I know I'm having one. Oh that porter is good. Is Stegmaier still available in PA? Your state has so many interesting little breweries.

Oh, I definitely prepare myself for one of those high octane beers. They go down quite nicely and stay there, too.

I haven't seen Stegmaier around but apparently it's still very much in production http://www.stegmaierbeer.com/

Yeah, I wouldn't mind making a tour of a few brewing towns and loading up my trunk with enough to last a few months.

I have 5 gallons of a big beer I need to get in bottles.
It was a double first time, my first big beer, and my first time using oak chips with aging.

I can honestly say I've never had Stroh's. I liked Icehouse in college but that was because of the 5.5% Alc.

Stroh's! I haven't had any of that in years and years.

I think the beer of my youth was Goebel in a keg or Old Milwaukee in cans :) At a bar, I'd order Bud since it was usually 2 for 1 and if splurging with a date, we'd get Michelob *G*

it's just as you remembered.

goebel was a popular choice, as was utica club. michelob used to be the premium choice for many.

I'm sorry. You can make fun of me. I like Miller. Be -it MGD, Lite etc.
I love Highlife. :0

My dad...is and has been forever a Stroh's man. There are some in my fridge right now that will be here until he comes back later this summer - really not my taste.

I miss several Australian favorites. Everything from Victoria Bitter to New Zealand Cascade Pale Ale. I really miss Kilkenny an Irish red I haven't seen since I left there.

You know me. I'm a lush. I guess I just love booze. :D

Grant recently tried the GONZO ALE made by flying dog. A gonzo imperial porter I think. He says its the best damn dark beer he ever had. OVER 10.00 for 4 beers!

Anyway - icecream may not happen tomorrow. But maybe Sunday? Got any ideas?

Stroh's is not for everyone. I'm not pushing it on anyone! Heck I miss Foster's when it was actually made down there instead of the Canadian version and now it's made by Coors. Need to find some Steinlager.

No ice cream? I may have other plans on Sunday :(

However we have no plans on the tenth!

Fosters!? OK ..I dont want you to EVER pick on me for choice of wine - or beer again. ....that may just be your one mulligan :) Even Australians don't drink fosters! :P I'm just picking on you.

I also! (now I can't stop talking about beer) love Pilsner Urquell. and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Especially on tap - and they have it all over downtown now. Use to only be available at Bernies and The High 5. Drank a bunch when I got my tattoo and drank it and well tequila too many nights while younger at the High 5.

The kids love their PBR these days, especially in the hard to find 22oz. cans.
