I have, on two occasions, apparently exceeded *neurotypical* expectations for dealing with a social emergency---but at the cost of complete amnesia for the event. Evidently, it's as though I have the ability to run CPU or I/O functions, but just not both at once.

I know of many Minnesotans who are wearing shorts with snow blanks still around.

I am the same way. I am hypersensitive to noise and get overwhelmed when there is too much sound in a room (like the tv in the background while someone is carrying on a conversation). When I hit auditory overload, I don't notice anything else.

I find when I hit auditory overload I become more sensitive touch-wise. Any kind of vibrations from said noise rumble through me completely destroying thought and memories. I can't stand concerts or gymnasiums with a choir or band for this reason. It's like I sort of remember I was there but only in the cloak of NOISE and VIBRATION; any visual stimulation is dimmed, the colors are dull and the brightness is low. If I have to suffer through it for too long it can trigger migraines.
