Interesting. My son, who is peculiarly wired in a number of ways, is always very insensitive to temperature, no matter what his overload level (I always make him at least bring a coat to school in the winter, so teachers don't get alarmed). What you say about turning off switches strikes a chord with me, because a few years ago he figured out how to turn off his vision and/or hearing (couldn't make this up if I were trying) when he gets overwhelmed. It'd never occurred to me to think of his internal heater as perhaps being yet another compensatory thing. hmmm.
