Monkey Movie Madness!

Mar 17, 2017 10:55

It's movie time! The non-summer blockbuster season is out in full force, and high up on the list is a rebooting of one of the classic creature features: King Kong. And boy have we moved far past the days of a giant ape hanging on the Empire State Building...

Kong: Skull Island

No monkeys were harmed in the filming of this movie. Andy Serkis was not motion captured for this purpose... for once. )

That did look unusual and interesting. I will get around to it eventually; I've heard lots of good about it.

In Australia, the tagline for Kong movie posters is 'We Dont' Belong Here'

That's certainly what I was thinking about any cinema showing the movie, but... having seen a couple of trailers since... maybe, just maybe I could be tempted

If you enjoyed 2014 Godzilla, I think you'll enjoy the continuation of the concept of "giant monsters are everywhere and they kick ass". It's got good action, good Giant Monkey effects, and good atmosphere. Also, Samuel L. Jackson makes everything better.

Disney needs to do a crossover of King Kong with Cinderella, complete with--wait for it--a Fay Wray godmother.

If King Kong had sex with a giant mule, would that explain where Donkey Kong came from?
