Mousey Movie Mania!

Jan 06, 2017 10:46

It's been a bit of a movie frenzy over here, because I like watching movies, and that's about it. So, what do I think? Let's see what's on channel two... (in spoilery detail, so don't read if you haven't seen these movies yet!)

Rogue One

Spoilers and other unsavory bits here. Maybe also a pizza. )

I really want to see Moana but I'm not sure I'm going to pursuade James to come with me...

I guess it might not be for everyone... I like some animated movies, even ones that might be targeted at a younger audience. But that's just me. Also, if you're going for babies, sooner or later James is going to have to bite the bullet and take some kids' movies for the team. ;-)

Also, The Rock was really good in this movie - he didn't just phone it in. He put real energy and effort into the role. That's respectable.

I love animated movies and James has watched and enjoyed plenty with me at home but I'm not sure I could persuade him to go to the cinema for one. If we had a kiddie to take that would be different because he'd have an excuse to be there ;)

That also makes sense. Going out to the movies is an expensive prospect nowadays. Kind of a sad state when I could pay for two to go to the movies and get a drink, or I could go to a pub and get 3-4 beers, and the pub is the cheaper option.

Ideal situation: go to the movie and get 3-4 beers. Might as well just pay 100% and maximize your outcome. Heh. :-)

there are o survivors - Pst. Typo. (Unless there are also m and p survivors.)

As a bonus, who knew that The Rock could sing? Not this guy! - So The Rock has a free alarm clock app (The Rock Clock) and the audio choices are precious. He actually voices the "beep" of the classic alarm tone, and there's also a "Good Morning, Sunshine" song he sings, if you'd rather a more gentle awakening.

a hollow and meaningless comic relief that's mostly there for slapstick - You say that like it's a bad thing ;)

Frigging typos. Ooooor maybe that was just an ugly zero. ;-)

I'm glad The Rock has fun with his celebrity. More celebrities need to embrace their funny side.

Slapstick has its place, but Disney slapstick sidekicks are notoriously unfunny. Disney was doing Jar-Jar Binks long before Star Wars threw us for a loop.

Ah, that kind of slapstick sidekick. Yikes.

Yeah. Sometimes Disney does it right, like in "Tangled" with Maximus and the chameleon. Many times Disney does it horribly wrong, like in "Frozen" with Olaf, or "Hercules" with Panic and Pain and Phil, or "Princess and the Frog" with the firefly. Or maybe I'm just an old grump. ;-)
