(Prologue and Chapter 1)

Changmin and I were together the whole second day of the School Festival. We tried wall climbing, rappelling, and the other activities available. He paid for all the expenses we incurred for the whole day; I guess it’s his way of apologizing. It was a sweet gesture, but one I wasn’t used to. I didn’t want him to spend that much money for me but he was a stubborn ass, so I just accepted his offer gracefully with the condition that the next he won’t spend so much. We argued for a moment on that issue. He said that I wasn’t good for his ego, but in the end he gave in to my condition. Hehehe. He really is sweet. I was smiling to myself thinking of everything that happened today when my roommates came in from dinner.

“Oi. What are you smiling about?” Chie asked, grinning.

“Betsune.” I said cheerfully.

“Eh, eh, eh, eh! Changmin. YOU ARE SO OBVIOUSLY THINKING ABOUT YOU DAY TOGETHER WITH CHANGMIN, ALINE.” Misaki said.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Stop acting all innocent on us ‘Al’.” Chie said. “So you guys are going in the horror house tomorrow right?”

“Uhuh.”

“You have to dress really nice tomorrow. Wear make-up, and use a really good cologne or perfume.” Misaki said.

“Yeah! And then when you’re afraid you have to hold onto him, if possible you hug him around the waist.” Chie said.

“Yuck! Yada! Ie! Absolutely not! I’m not that desperate for a guy’s attention you know.”

“But Changmin isn’t just any guy. He’s literally tall, dark and handsome. You shouldn’t pass up this chance, the way you passed up the chance of tasting his kiss. That would have been your first kiss and it would have been from a really handsome guy. Why did you stop him?”

“Because I was just kidding. I was testing him if he really was sincere in his apology.”

“Sigh. You are unbelievable. Anyway, let’s see about your outfit for tomorrow. It’s going to be a special day for you. So…” The two of them kept teasing and bossing me around until I finally agreed to wear what they chose for me.

The next day…

“Wooh! Changmin’s eyes will definitely pop out when he sees you.” I was in front of the mirror studying myself and pondering if I should really go out in this outfit. I was wearing an off-shoulder blouse, skinny jeans and doll shoes I’d bought before the semester started.

“I don’t think that’s possible. There are a lot of girls who dress more revealingly than I do.”

“That is not the point senpai. The point is, this will be the first time he sees you wearing something so feminine. I don’t think he even noticed what those other girls were wearing.” Misaki said.

“Whatever. Anyway…”

=Ringgg=

“Hello Min… Yeah, I’m ready…Okay I’ll be right down.” I placed my phone on its pouch which was attached to my belt. Checked myself in the mirror one last time, and sprayed on some cologne. “Bye guys.” I said as opened the door to our room and then went out.

“Don’t forget what we told you last night. Hug him when you’re scared.” Chie called out.

“I am not going to do that unless it is absolutely necessary.” I called back.

At the building being used for the Horror House…

The line sure is long, it’s a good thing Aline and I came here early. This must be one of the most sought after attraction in the festival. I looked at Aline who was beside me, she was talking to a classmate of hers but she still held on to my hand. I realized after the time I spent with her that she liked her hands being held, and she liked holding hands as well. She said that she was used to it, that that was what she and her family always did when they went out. I continued to study her and noted once again what she was wearing. When I saw her for the first time today, I actually gaped at her, but I didn’t notice that I was until she tapped my chin close. She seemed embarrassed at first at what she was wearing and went on to explain that it was her roommates’ idea, but she seemed comfortable enough now. I have to thank her roommates properly one day.

Ah. They’re finally opening. They were letting people in by five. We were one of the first five to get in. Once inside they guided us through the corridors, inside the rooms, and up and down the stairs. Aline was calm, but of course there were times when she would almost jump when a monster would suddenly appear in front of us. The others were almost always screaming, and Aline would occasionally laugh at times when they were. By the time we got out, my blood was still pumping. When I was calmer, I realized that Aline’s hold on my hand was tighter than before, I guess she was more scared than she let on. I squeezed her hand and she looked up at me inquiringly.

“Want to grab something to eat?” I asked.

“Sounds good to me.” She answered smiling. We made our way to a food stand. While eating…

“Um, Al? You saw that walk-in movie their going to put up in the soccer field tomorrow night?”

“Uhuh.”

“Wanna watch it?”

“Hmmm…” She said thoughtfully while chewing her food. I crossed my fingers hoping she’d say yes. “Okay.” Yes!

“Min, let’s just meet at the cafeteria tomorrow at about say 5:30 pm? I promised to spend the whole day tomorrow with my roommates.”

“5:30 is fine with me.”

At the cafeteria of dormitory…

“So. So. So. Did you hug him when you got scared?” Chie asked excitedly.

“Hug who?” Utami asked. Utami was Chie’s classmate during freshmen year and they’ve been friends ever since. She’s also become my friend through Chie. She’s also our new roommate.

“Changmin.” Misaki answered.

“Who’s he?” Utami asked.

“He’s this guy who’s sort of courting Aline, I’m not quite so sure what their relationship is but it’s really cute.” Chie answered. “So did you? Did you?” She asked.

“No I did not.”

“Rats! Waste of another good opportunity.” Chie grumbled.

“I may not have hugged him, but we were holding hands before we went in and the entire time we were inside, and also a few more moments after we got out.” I said trying to appease her.

“Humph! That’s fine I guess. So when are you seeing each other again?” Chie asked.

“Tomorrow night for the walk-in movie.”

“You! Do not waste the opportunity to get close to him tomorrow, or else!”

“Whatever, I’m going up now, I’m tired.”

“Oyasumi.” They said in unison.

When Aline was gone Chie, Misaki and Utami were plotting something. This is how they’re conversation went.

“Chie, we should spy on them.” Misaki suggested.

“Yeah!” Utami added in, “I’ve got a digital camera. We could record whatever happened for documentary purposes.”

“Iyosh! This is a rare opportunity, we shouldn’t waste it.” Chie replied.

At the apartment…

“So, did she hug you when she got scared?” Junsu-hyung asked.

“No. She just held my hand tighter.”

“That’s all she did? Didn’t you at least attempt to make a protective gesture to get her closer to you?”

“No.”

“Omo. When are you seeing her again?”

“Tomorrow night at the walk-in movie.”

“Okay. You’d better not waste another opportunity to get close to her. At least hug her man. Are you a man or a mouse?”

“I’m a man. A mouse can’t hug anybody hyung.”

“Don’t get smart on me. Now you should get closer and closer to her as the movie progresses, observe her. Is she cold? If so, do something about it and…”

“Hyung are you sure you should be giving me advice on these things? Have you ever had a girlfriend?”

“I saw them on movies and they always worked.”

I shook my head at my hyung’s pigheadedness. “Whatever hyung, I’m going to sleep now, I’m tired.”

“Ya! Shim Changmin. I’m not done yet.”

“Goodnight hyung.” I said before I pulled the cover up to my chin. I heard him stomp out of our room.

In the kitchen…

“Ya. Kim Junsu, what are you looking so irritated for?” Yunho asked.

“That Changmin is going tomorrow on a date with Aline and he isn’t listening to what I’m telling him. I told him to not waste any more time trying to get close to her. Why am I even thinking about other people’s love life anyway?” Junsu said.

Jaejoong answered him, “It’s because this is the first time you’ve seen him like this. The first time we’ve all seen him always having a twinkle in his eyes. I don’t think he wasn’t listening to you. In fact I think he might do what you told him, but in his own time. He doesn’t want to rush her.”

“I think Jae is right Su. We should just let him handle it. He’s a big boy now. He knows what he should do.” Yunho said.

“Yun. We should spy on them tomorrow. See what they do during the movie. See how they are progressing.” Jaejoong said.

“Hyung that’s a fantastic idea.” Junsu said. “I’ll bring my camera.”

“What do you think Yun?” Jaejoong asked.

“Well, we could always close the restaurant early tomorrow.” Yunho answered.

“All right! Operation Spy on Changmin shall commence tomorrow.” Junsu said excitedly.

“Can’t you think of a more original name for what were going to do tomorrow?” Jaejoong asked.

5:45 pm the next day…

Changmin and I found a nice spot on the soccer field to sit on while we watched the movie. The first movie was Twilight. We occasionally gave comments about it. The movie sort of reminded me about the anime I’m currently crazy about. While watching the movie I couldn’t shake off the feeling that we were being watched. I couldn’t satisfy my curiosity until the end of the movie. I casually scanned the area and was astonished when I caught sight of Chie, Misaki, and Utami.

“Gasp. Did she see us?” Utami asked.

“I don’t think so, but we have to be careful now. She really has a sixth sense.” Chie answered.

“We should transfer to the other side of the field.” Misaki suggested.

“Yeah. We should do that.” Chie answered.

“Min, I think my roommates are spying on us.” I said.

“Uhuh. I think my hyungs are spying on us too.” He answered.

“What do you think we should do?”

“I think we should just act as if we didn’t notice them and then when we find an opportunity, we’ll surprise them.”

“(giggle) That sounds good.” And so we continued watching the next movie while keeping an eye on them.

“Yunnie, did Min see us?” Jaejoong asked.

“I don’t think so, he’s talking and laughing with her now.” Yunho replied.

“Maybe we should transfer to the other side of the field.” Junsu suggested.

“Okay.” Yunho replied.”

“My roommates are moving Min.”

“My hyungs are moving too.”

We saw them make their way towards the opposite side of the field they were located, and then BAM!! They were so busy watching us that they collided against each other. We saw our chance to hide. We quickly made our way to a bush nearest to us.

“Are you girls alright?” Yunho asked. He was helping Utami up, while Junsu helped Chie, and Jaejoong helped Misaki.

“No we’re not! You guys should watch where you’re going.” Utami answered.

“We’re sorry but we could say the same thing about you. You girls should watch where you’re going too.”

“Hey. Aren’t you Aline’s friends?” Junsu asked. “Are you spying on them too?”

“We are.” Chie answered. “Speaking of which…”

“Chie, they’re gone.” Misaki said.

“What?!” Jaejoong said. “But they were there a second ago.”

“Who was there a second ago?” Changmin asked them. They all turned to us with astonished and guilty looks on their faces.

“Eeto..Anoo…Nobody.” Misaki answered.

“You guys were spying on us.” I told them. They looked at each other and then back at us.

“We just wanted to see how you guys were progressing.” Jaejoong said. Everyone agreed at what he said, and then suddenly they were all talking at the same time.

“That’s enough. Why don’t we all go out for dinner since we’re all here?” Changmin suggested.

“You know that sounds like a good idea.” I said.

“Well then let’s go.” Junsu said. “There’s that new Pizza restaurant near the mall. My friends say they’ve got the best pizza in town.” Everyone agreed that it would be a place to hang out.

We all had fun, eating and sharing stories. When they took us back to the dormitory, my roommates went up first, and I was left downstairs with Changmin since his hyungs were waiting in the car for him.

“So. What did you want to tell me?”

“My hyungs sure picked a bad time to spy on us.”

“Huh?!” I didn’t know what he meant.

“Sigh. I was trying to pick the right time to do this tonight, and then I saw them so I didn’t really get the chance earlier.” He said, gazing at me. There was an intensity in the way he looked at me now that wasn’t there before.

I gulped, “Do what?”

“This.” He said as he cupped my chin and slowly lowered his head. He kissed me. At first I was shocked at that realization. Then I relaxed, closed my eyes and accepted his kiss. He licked my lips and then parted them with his tongue. As his tongue touched mine, a shiver went through me at the intimacy of the act. When I began to respond, his hold tightened on me and he deepened the kiss even more. After a few more seconds, he let go of me. We stared at each other, not really knowing what to say.

“Wow.” I said nervously.

“Yeah. Wow. Umm, so see you on Monday?”

“Okay. Goodnight Min.”

“Goodnight Al.” He kissed me one more time before he turned around and headed for their car.

I touched my lips. He kissed me. I won’t tell anyone yet about our kiss. Sumanai Chie, Utami, and Misaki, but I don’t want anyone to know about it right now. Sigh. So that’s what it feels like to be kissed.
