4th sewing project: bow belt
30 October 2008- Some time last year, I was shopping at Bugis when I came across a pretty bow belt of a gorgeous sunny yellow, a slim, delicate piece of girlish frivolity that warmly pressed its suit against my girly sensibilities, tugging at my heart strings and my wallet with coquettish onslaughts. Though it never ( Read more... )

thank you agnes :) the difficult part is sewing the ends of the little strip (that makes up the middle part of the bow) together to form a loop which will hold the rest of your bow together. you've got to hand sew that part while keeping the positions of the strip and bow in place because in this case, normal pins will not be able to keep the positions fixed for you.

your mother is so ingenuous! who would've thought to put snap buttons under the bow for easy washing? that's amazing! does your mom work in the fashion industry or something? :)

very cute belt btw, and lovely outfit as usual!

no she doesn't, she sews as a hobby :) for me, i wouldn't have thought of putting spring press stud buttons because i wanted an easier job washing and ironing the bow.. i would put these buttons because i want to be able to take the bow out as and when i want to and pin it onto other clothes :D so what i originally wanted to do was to sew on a brooch pin to the bottom of the bow. that brooch pin will then serve as the point of attachment to the belt strap so i can wear the bow as a belt, and when i want the bow elsewhere, i can just unsnap the brooch pin to remove the bow. i didn't carry out my idea though in the end.. i was apprehensive about having to poke holes into the belt strap all the time. i was about to permanently fix the bow to the strap when my mum suggested the above :)

thank you for your compliment :)

thank you :)
(although adorable is a word i will never use to describe myself!)
when you think about the outcome and of the things that you can make with your own hands, it becomes easier to persist in the tedious task of sewing.
