I talked to my dad today.  His surgery went well and although he's sore and uncomfortable, he's in good spirits.  The doctor is 99.9999% convinced the cancer was completely contained in the prostate and is certain the pathology report is going to confirm it.

Here in "real life" I had several people express sympathy for me when I said my dad had

I'm glad your dad's surgery went well. You're right, cancer is scary no matter what kind it is.

P.S. I can relate to pooh-pooing thing: my dad's had melanoma twice and, while neither time was life-threatening, it's still CANCER and people around here just didn't seem to get that. So I know what you mean.
