for now i can't help but feel let down all the time. it seems you haven't really grasped the idea that you aren't the only person in the universe. people depend on you, handicap or none.

on a normal day, i'd be a bit affected, even pissed. compounding ba naman. BUT! i don't know why suddenly this is happening, i'm not at all affected. i'm actually happy! :)

Today, Nino and I got the chance to observe three procedures - a lipoma excision, a cardiac catheterization and a talc pleuradesis. It took about six hours for two TCVS consultants, one fellow and one Anesthesiologist to do all three procedures. And to think that we came late and missed an early bronchoscopy ( Read more... )

Wisdom is not the memorization and regurgitation of facts. It is the ability to step back, observe mistakes, change behavior patterns, and pass that along to willing listeners in medicine, politics and social planners. To do less when one has the time and willingness and remaining passions would be shameful.

Ever since last year, they've warned us about this module, about the xx thick transes for a 200 point exam. But somehow seeing the patients in the ward, hearing the fellows talking about POAs for their assigned patients, and sharing some personal insights on med life in general, make medicine so much beautiful, bearable and really.. Reachable. :)
