Summary: Kim Jaejoong, the school's nerdy nobody falls in love with Jung Yunho, the campus' hearthrob, star player and a certified playboy. Will Jaejoong's love be returned or it will stay as an albeit unrequited love?
Prologue // Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Junsu and Changmin arrived at Jae's family's cafe around 5pm for their usual group study-slash-bonding time. They arrived with more customers as usual so they need to wait until Jaejoong finished serving them.
The cafe was built shortly after Jaejoong was born. It was manage by his parents until the period where Jaejoong's father needed to work abroad to support his family because the income from the cafe isn't enough for the three of them. And now it was manage solely by Jaejoong's mother and of course with the help of Jae.
The two seat first in their favorite part of the cafe near the window and order their favorite drinks while waiting for Jaejoong to finish. Junsu is thinking over what he and Jaejoong had talked about earlier at school. He was quite sure that Yunho still cares for Jaejoong and of course he do believe that those two idiot friends of him have feelings for each other. They just didn't know how to approach each other again after what happened several years back .
"Min, this is too much already." Junsu said to Changmin who is enjoying his third slice of chocolate cake. "I hate seeing Jaejoong hurt every time Yunho have a new plaything."
"Washuyanaru?" Changmin asked with his mouth still full. He received a glare from Junsu so he finished first what is in his mouth before speaking again. "What do you wanna do then? Set them up?"
"Well, that isn't a very bad idea Minnie. You're really such a genius!" Junsu said excitedly, scheming what he's gonna do already. "We can start getting them close again during this play our class is gonna do. And our goal is get them together before we graduate!"
"Junsu-hyung you are crazy!" Changmin exclaimed. "How are you supposed to bring two people together who are not even on speaking terms? And how can you be so sure that Yunho hyung feels the same as Jaejoong hyung?"
"I take back what I said, you're not genius. Are you dumb? Don't you see how those two act whenever they are within arms reach?" Junsu can't believe that someone as bright as Changmin can be so oblivious.
"They act like normal strangers?"
"Really, Changmin?? Do you even realize that Yunho takes the same bus as Jaejoong everyday?" Junsu asked.
"Really? But Yunho hyung lives near Yoochun hyung's right? And that was in the other side of the town." Changmin scratches his head in confusion. Well, you can't blame him, he really doesn't understand why his friends act like this.
"Exactly Min, exactly." Junsu sipped his iced coffee and looked around for Jaejoong sees to it that the latter was out of ear shot before speaking. "We can't do this with just the two of us Min, we need more help."
"Need more help with what Su?" Jaejoong asked Junsu and then looking at Changmin.
"Well, we need more help for the, uhm.. the uh- with the play! right the play, we need more help to do the props." Thanks to Changmin's quick mind.
"Ah, Don't mind those props, my team can handle it." Jaejoong smiled to his two best friends oblivious with the fact that the two are scheming something behind his back. "Come on let's go. Mom let me off already."
The three head off to Jaejoong's room located at the second floor of the cafe to start doing they're homework and some of their projects that are needed to pass soon. After almost two hours, they finished everything already and started to goof around Jaejoong's room and share stories with each other until Changmin asks something to Jaejoong.
"Jaejoong hyung, can I ask you something?"
"Go ahead, shoot. Even if I refuse you'll just keep on pestering me" Jaejoong smiled at Changmin then roll on his tummy on the bed to face both of friends who are sitting near the foot of the bed.
"Well, Yoochun hyung once told me that you and Yunho hyung are close before. And uh- I wanna know what happened between you two." Changmin looked at Jaejoong with his puppy eyes, the one thing his hyung can't resist.
Changmin doesn't know the whole story between his Yunho hyung and Jaejoong hyung because he only got to know them when he entered high school (Changmin attended a different elementary school). The others attended an all boys school while Changmin a co-ed one. But once or thrice he heard his other hyungs talking about something that happened when they were in 5th grade that caused Yunho and Jaejoong to grew apart. He heard something about a bet and a game. He once asked Yoochun about it but he was only told to ask Yunho or Jaejoong about it. He picked the latter to ask because he know his Jaejoong hyung won't refuse him. hehehe~
"Why didn't you ask Yoochun for it? He knows what happened, even Junsu knows."
"Please hyung~ I wanna hear the story from you. Please.please.pretty please?" Changmin once again give his puppy eyes to Jaejoong.
"Ugh~ okay fine. Just don't do those puppy eyes again with me. Okay, I'm gonna tell this just once so listen carefully."
~Flashback~
(5 years ago - 5th grade in elementary)
It was their last night in the mountain resort for their educational trip, a three days two nights stay for the 5th and 6th grade students.
Now a certain group of students are gathered in a room, enjoying their last night of stay with staying up late and a game. The group is composed of four seniors and four 5th grade students, they were friends since they were in 3rd grade.
The game was suggested by none other than Heechul. But the game was actually just a bet amoung the seniors in the group. They need to make someone confess their deepest secret and their target was a certain raven haired beauty named Jaejoong.
The seniors already sensed that Jaejoong have somewhat special feelings for Yunho, and vice versa. And why you may ask? Because they treat each other differently that they treat the others. Like, Jaejoong would always pack another set of lunch for Yunho but if the others asked him to also pack them another set he would say that his lunchbox is already heavy as it is. Or Yunho always offering Jaejoong a ride home, which Jae would always refuse, that's why Yunho would just walk and wait with Jaejoong in the bus stop.
In their minds they'll just help those two idiots realize their feeling for each other. So they suggest to play truth ot dare. The students gather in a cirlcle with a bottle in the middle.
The first three spins landed on Junsu, Yoochun and Heechul and all choose dare. They do their punishments respectively andto on the fourth spin it landed on Jaejoong, Heechul sees this opportunity to execute their plans.
"It's Jaejae's turn~~ Okay, truth or dare?" Heechul asks excitedly.
"Uhm, I'll also choose dare." Jaejoong said shyly.
"Hmmm.. Let me think of a good dare for you.. Ah! okay here it is." Heechul clasped his hand like an excited child who's gonna enter a candy land. "I like you to kiss the person you like inside this room and tell him what you like about him."
Heechul thought that he'll combine truth and dare in a not so obvious way. He knows his position in the group so no one can deny him.
"B-but sunbae, isn't it too much?" Jaejoong asks, hesitating the task given to him.
"No buts! This is my game, so my rules" Heechul said "Well, if you don't have someone you like inside the room just kiss the person on your right."
The one sitted on Jaejoong's right is Yunho so either way he's trapped into Heechul's game. 'I'm such a genius' Heechul thouht to himself.
"Okay fine~" Then Jaejoong straighten himself up and kiss Yunho on the cheeks. Some giggled because of those two's cuteness while some stayed silent waiting for Jaejoong's next move.
"That's it Jaejae? You don't have anything to say? So that means you don't like someone in the room?" Heechul said while eyeing Yunho on his reaction.
"Uhm, well.. I-I kind of like Yunnie" Jaejoong put both of his hand on his face to cover them so that no one can see his blushing face and also out of embarrasment. "I like Yun's protectiveness. How he worried over small things about me. I also like his kindness and how gentle he is on everything. A-and I think I really like him."
"Yunho, do you want to say something?" Heechul asked.
Yunho doesn't know what to say. He is so confused right now. Yunho was stunned on what he heard. His friend that he treated as his best friend like him? Yes, he'll admit it, he like being touchy with Jae. He feels this warmth on his heart whenever he hug or hold Jaejoong's hand. He feel that he needed to protect Jaejoong from anything that can hurt the latter. But he's not yet sure on how he feel for the other. Confused as hell Yunho stood up muttered a soft 'I'm sorry' and walked out the room.
As Jaejoong heard the door close he let loose, tears flow from his cheeks and sobs can be heard. He already played several scenes on his mind on how Yunho would take it if he confessed but he didn't know that it'll hurt this much. He heard shuffling and the door closed again then he feels someone hugged him. He then bawl out everything as he feels the arm around him tighten.
"It's okay Jaejae. Cry it all out. I'm here." Heechul's heart hurt seeing his favorite dongsaeng cry.
"Ch-chullie hyung. *sobs* It hurts. It really hurts" Jaejoong cried everything out that evening while hugging Heechul. He didn't know how he even ended up in the bed when he woke up the next morning.
He thought that he already felt hurt enough with how Yunho acted last night but he didn't imagine the hurt he felt when Yunho ignore him the whole morning and the whole ride home. It hurts ten times more than last night. When they arrived in school, Yunho didn't even bother to say goodbye to him and just went straight to his car and go home.
And since that day Yunho ignore him at all cost. Yunho treated him as if they weren't friends before. Jaejoong tried to talk to Yunho several times after what happened but Yunho just brush him off saying that it's okay and he didn't need to explain anything.
~end of flashback~
"That's what happened." Changmin was about to ask something when Jaejoong said, "Don't ask. I also don't know why. It's already late, I think your driver is already downstairs."
Jaejoong walked Junsu and Changmin outside. "See you on Monday, hyung!" Junsu waved to Jaejoong.
After Changmin heard his hyung's story he immediately saw what he didn't before. How Yunho would spend time in the library until his basketball practice, when they visited the place with Jaejoong eventhough he doesn't have anything to do inside. How Yunho would stare somewhere and when Changmin look Jaejoong would emerge from that place. Now he put the puzzle pieces correctly and decided that he'll help his Junsu hyung.
