A former student of mine passed away this morning at 5am, from a long struggle with lung cancer. Keep him, his friends, and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

While driving to a meeting this morning, I hit a pothole in the breakdown lane of Route 3 North. This would be useful, only insofar as I was already in the breakdown lane, so that I could enjoy using it. Bob and I just got back from Florence - which is why I haven't posted. Things were great there and I got to see David and the Slaves. All of those pieces are beautiful. I'm back at the friary, and it's coming on midnight. We leave bright and early tomorrow for Florence, and will be there tomorrow, Wednesday and part of Thursday When we get back from there, I expect to play things by ear, and perhaps spend a day on the Mediterranian. Dinner was great last night, and we'll be heading out tonight for Bologna. I was unable to see the vatican museum - i didn't have cash on me, Bob's card won't work and they won't take credit cards - so I see that as an excuse to return to Rome. Nothing much to note. Bob's done a good job of walking me around until I want to die - but the sites have been good. Today was supposed to be the vatican museum and sistine chapel in the morning, but it is closed for some sort of Italian holiday.
