does anyone know if having cfs can increase the chance of having low iron or developing anemia?

It's the other way around. Anemia can cause fatigue. Severe anemia can exacerbate CFIDS.

i think the low iron is a new thing but i have been feeling a bit worse cfs wise so if that's the case then it's definitely effecting my cfs.

Not a clue, but if in doubt, get your iron levels tested. Are you female, and if so do you have heavy periods?

A great iron supplement is Floradix/Floravital.

It's not the cheapest, but it's in liquid form which means it's far better absorbed, plus it's non-constipating and generally Very Good Stuff. There are a few vitamins thrown in with it too, which can't hurt.

ME + wonky hormones = such fun, don't you find? I have monster PMS myself.

In my opinion, no.. but if you have other health issues/gut issues related to your CFS it might prevent you absorbing the iron you do eat? & being anaemic would definitely excaberate CFS/ME symptoms.

that is what i was thinking becuase i read up on iron absorption problems and it mentioned crohns and other stomach problems can prevent people from getting the iron they need and my gut issues are one of my main problems. i'll get it checked out anyway.

Yeah well you know the treatment I'm on.. it sticks all sorts of gut issues liek IBS and chrohns in the same basket... so for me it's entirely possibe that that could be happening.

Let me know the results.. x

The first year or so that I had CFS, I had trouble keeping my food down, and during this time I did get slight anemia. So I think CFS did contribute to it. With supplements, steak, and broccoli, I was soon better. :)
