Last night my housemate Laney, who is deep into the swing dance scene in the Twin Cities, hosted a blues dance party at Laurel House. Solomon Douglas, a friend of a friend, and apparently a fairly famous blues dancer, pianist and band leader, came to teach a workshop beforehand.

I want a little sugar in my bowl, I want a little sweetness down in my soul... )

pheromones abound, fun, dance, laurel house, people-watching

Dude, I wish I could have teleported you here. It would have been so completely your cup of tea, you could have swam in it.

The guy who taught us last night. Doing a much more flashy sort of thing than he was doing at our house, but oh man, SO HOT. And it's funny, he himself looks a bit awkward when he dances, but holy shit is he ever an exquisite lead.... *crushes wildly*

I have to learn how to do this.

Well, Katherine Hepburn herself was widely rumored to have had several affairs with women, and there seems to be something about her that appeals really strongly to bisexual women and femme lesbians. I know a large number who view her as a sort of icon of hotness, alongside Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich and Tallulah Bankhead and the other assorted 1930's female film stars who had tons of lesbian rumors circulated about them.

So yeah, "test" might be a bit strong -- after all, you don't have to be romantically interested in women to appreciate how gorgeous Katherine Hepburn is -- but if a girl's infatuated with one or more of the above gang, it's sometimes a helpful clue-y sort of... thing... oh, I dunno...

There's something about the way you've phrased this that's incredibly hilarious. And I think you're right. *scratches head*

Anyway, got your package! Thanks so much, and I loved the polka-dotted card. :)
Also, might you have accidentally given me someone else's discs or (god forbid) some of your own? You sent me Ai no Sonata and Blue Swan sometime last year, but they were in there too.

Haha, I guess I see the humor, now that you point it out. XD

Yay, I'm glad it got there! And... jeez, how bizarre about Blue Swan and Ai no Sonata! I really, really thought they were ones I promised you... and I completely blanked on the fact that I'd already sent them. Oy. My memory for the lose, once again. Not only can I not remember the names of hot well-read girls who invade my bedroom at 2 AM, I can't even remember things related to Takarazuka, and that's when you know the situation's become really dire...

.... Now I'm wondering if perhaps I promised them to somebody else at some point. =P Dammit.

TEE HEE OCTOBER CRUSH.

She sounds hot! Also, you gave her a nickname and then she came and searched you out... because you are gay-dar-pinging! So there, neener nee.

I still want to get you a shirt that says "GAY and also SHY"

Much better than October Revolutions. I think.

I dunno if she was searching me out or if she's just the super-sociable type. But... yeah. Hopefully I will see her again sometime soon. Shouldn't be too difficult to wangle.

Now that you mentioned it... I think I would actually wear a shirt that simply said 'Gay'. Especially if it wasn't a huge or cutsey font or anything, just kind of matter-of-fact about it. Perhaps as a nice elegant pocket monogram or something. Maybe I should make myself a shirt like that.

Dance! Not enough people love it. I suck, too, but dammit, I will learn to move like a twenties' swinger one day if it kills me. I'm going to try Japanese dance soon, if the club leader bothers to respond. Of course, if she doesn't, it would be a blessing anyway, what with the tidal wave of engagements I've racked up in the past twenty-four hours.
