I'm angry about something, in a "twitching around in the back of my brain" kind of way. I've mentioned it very lightly on here before, but it's been a present issue over the past month and only seems to be getting worse. I don't see much chance for it to get better, either.

Tough situation. Is there any underlying psychological component? For my mom, she wants to be accepted for who she is, no matter what she looks like. She seems hell bent on gaining as much weight as possible to kind of force the issue.

Yeah, I definitely think there is, although I can't quite put my finger on it. When I was heavy, I had to realize a part of me viewed weight as a way to shield myself from "male attention" (history of sexual victimization), and acknowledge that I couldn't sacrifice my own health for the sake of that fear.

With my sister...I'm not entirely sure. Your mom's motivation may be pretty similar to my sister's. I also think my sister sees her weight as a way to "punish" my parents, specifically my mom, for not being the parents she needed. And I suspect her weight is the only stable thing about her identity, and if she actually lost it she wouldn't really know who she was anymore.
