What If: A Bandom AU Picspam

So harriet-vane had a post about photos representing AUs, and I went away and thought for a little while and got terrifyingly inspired.

Here is the result.

The One Where... )

the academy is..., fall out boy, panic at the disco, my chemical romance, bandom, the young veins, picspam, cobra starship, mindless self indulgence

This is the AU about Victoria the modern ballet dancer. You know you'd read it.Oh man yes. And like ok (I'm totally stealing this bit from experience), Victoria goes to regualar school so she has to get changed in the bathrooms at school and make it to dance class in time and then sometimes she has morning ballet and has to get changed into her school uniform and get back to school in time for her Advanced Science class and she's sweaty and gross but her hair always looks super awesome when she pulls it out of the bun and she's become a master at quick changes ( ... )

and by high school career I mean the detention bit. Not the dance off with the bad boy of the school bit. Obviously.

Oh my god yes. Vicky-T/Gabe dance-off, I have no words for how much I would read that.

This is clearly the beginning of a beautiful not-yet-romance because they're pretending it's not a romance, wherein they sign up together for a Saturday Night Fever-esque club competition which is going to go national if they can get past this round, and there is a TRAINING MONTAGE plus bicker-flirting and many frozen moments while Gabe is dipping Victoria, and getting their styles to work together is HARD but becomes something amazing, and they blow the judges away with their awesome fusion style and PERSONALITY and then there is more kissing.

Also: Not the dance off with the bad boy of the school bit. Obviously.

I do not see why this would be obvious. I am very sad indeed that your high school career didn't include a dance-off with a bad boy, I feel you may have wasted your youth.

College Sharehouse (American term?) AU Frank; one of those incredibly grotty all-guy sharehouses where most of the trash is beer bottles and cooking is only attempted while high and thrash metal is study music and everything's vaguely hilarious unless you live directly upstairs.

I lived in Santa Cruz, Calfornia for college, so you either just have roommates (non-relations sharing a home or apartment) or what I know of as Co-ops, which tend to be all about shared, group-living, respect, communication, sometimes cultural or political affiliation or action (here's a good article on our 3 big co-ops, Chavez co-op actually has a pet hen named Steven: http://www.gtweekly.com/2007082911150/good-times/covers/home-grown).

I'm thinking we go with "College Roommates AU" then ;)

Not to be predictable, but whee! the one where they all work in a library.

I desperately want to see Ryland with a bubble pipe. They made him swap out the real one for a bubble one because he works the shifts where all the kids come in, and he has to set a good example.

This is a Last Summer Before College AU where four boys meet on the beach. And fall in love. And discover they're headed to the same college in the fall.

Or the Fire Island summer AU.

Ryland's bubble pipe! Yes ♥ And the kids are always trying to get a go with it, but Ryland won't let any of them touch it and has built up this incredible mythology about his pipe that has the kids all wide-eyed and awed and Alex kind of catatonic with laughter.

Fire Island?

This is the alternate reality travel AU where four ordinary guys wake up to find that they're rockstars in a band together. After the initial freaking out, they get ... curious.

OMG YES! There are few things I love so much as characters getting a kind of outside observer's perspective on their own lives (and being all sarcastic about it. "I like to do what? Please tell me you're kidding.").

If you'd write this, I'd be willing to completely flood it with any kind of manip art you'd want for inspiration. (y/y/puppyeyesplease y? :-DDDD)

"I like to do what? Please tell me you're kidding."

Oh my god, exactly.

See photo manipulations aren't even necessary, because that photo is so damned perfect. Spencer's doubtful but willing to go with it, Brendon's kind of trying not to be too happy (because he gets that everyone else is freaked), Ryan is all "Why hello thar, why didn't I think of fingerless gloves before?", and Jon just ... doesn't get what the hell anything is about, seriously, this is his band? His band? With the ... and, like, the ... yeah, no, it's fucking weird.

Also, manips kind of freak me out, but you should instead flood the comments with AU ideas or expansions <3

Brendon's kind of trying not to be too happy (because he gets that everyone else is freaked)

Yes! But he also tries to win the other guys over, because seriously? This is the greatest thing that ever happened to him (he gets to wear tophats!) and he doesn't want to waste the whole rock star experience. So he starts doing sneaky things to win them over.

Ryan is obviously the easiest, Brendon finds the wardrobe section in the support bus and introduces Ryan to the Rose Vest. Ryan is won over. Spencer is highly amused but also kind of intrigued, and that white brocade shirt actually looks pretty fabulous on him, and the SHOES! Spencer has never seen so many pairs of shoes in his life!

Meanwhile, Jon is completely exasperated. What the hell happened to his sweet, normal life where no one tried to put makeup on him and make him put his hands in inappropriate places on his friends during photoshoots? And when did his friends turn gay, exactly? Not that Jon has a problem with it, he'd just like to know if this crazy universe he's fallen ( ... )

Jon is further mollified when he notices that his name on the bag of weed is accompanied by a Sharpie drawing of a teenage mutant ninja turtle (Raphael, he thinks), because, yeah. That looks like him. Apparently he's still, you know, himself. He just ... he doesn't get how he ended up in this band. He's pretty sure that the makeup isn't something he actually does - none of the clothes in his closet have actual ruffles, no matter how many photo shoots Brendon shows him.

I'm really hoping that Ordinary Guy Brendon was a private music teacher, that guy that you first go to at four, and you're pretty sure you fucking hate the piano because you could be at home playing with your dolls/trucks/whatever, but for some reason he makes it seem awesome. Cut to 30 years later and he's crying in the audience as you play some fucking massive recital as a renowned pianist.

And I'm hoping that OGBrendon, after he wakes up a rock star, is just realizing that he misses the crap out of his kids, when all of a sudden he sees his favorite little pupil at the next table in a restaurant and hears her mom talking about maybe getting her some lessons, while the little girl sits there pouting and poking at her peas.

I just love how perfect that photo is for this. Their expressions in the mirror - Ryan's especially. All Why hey there you interestingly sexy rockstar, what's your name?.

YESYES! Have you ever watched that ballet movie, The Red Shoes? Because I am thinkin something along those lines for this AU. Except without the horrible romantic triangle angst.

Lolol, so this idea kind of turned into the Vicky-T/Gabe Teen Dance-Off AU of Doom above, but I like your version too. Except that now that I'm thinking about it, no, I haven't seen The Red Shoes, I'm just thinking of a) the Hans Christian Andersen story and b) Isobelle Carmody's short story. But you should tell me about it?
