She had thought she was late but the duel hadn't even started yet. If Cheyenne wasn't showing up, things were going to be worse for her. This was valuable time the girl was wasting.

"Good to see you've finally shown up, but where's your little Mudblood girlfriend?" he asked, sounding bored as he studied his cuticles. "Kind of cruel of her to leave you alone to rot, isn't it?"

His hand immediately gripped around his wand, although he kept it aimed downward to be sure he didn't use it. Nothing was more uncertain than facing off against Slytherins. They talked about fairness and being self-sufficient, but everyone knew a Slytherin would use any tactic to win when it came down to the end.
In fact, most Slytherins prided themselves on it.
Connemara had just launched an attack that Jacobs couldn't easily deflect entirely, which was a smart move. If nothing else, it should buy her a few seconds even if it did likely mean an angrier attack would come in retaliation.

It took her a few minutes to battle the birds away, and this time, she was really angry. Her fingers were bleeding slightly from the pecks, and her shoulders stung. She couldn't lose this now.
"Serpensortia!" she snapped, and a vicious green snake appeared before Connemara and began to hiss dangerously, slithering its way closer to her.
