Happy!Drunk Mal makes me happy as well. alexis_laforge August 7 2007, 05:12:25 UTC
Given that I've never written a Happy Drunken Mal it's nice to see him unwind and not brood, for a little bit. Of course, Mal and Jayne getting on a sad drunk together could create such a vast level of brooding that it would make even Angel look cheery. Well, pre S3 Angel. He's pretty cheerful anyway after that. Er, to cut through the painkiller haze (cracked my jaw) I must just say that this story's "Capital!"

Oh, please NO! I don't think even I with my love of angst would be up for that brood fest. two old biddies couldn't do it better. Course, they have reasons for it... ad it would be a bonding experience...NO, NO, NO! Bad Alexis for even suggesting it!

If you want pain distraction, look back to Aug 4 here on my lj for a someone else to end up in pain >;0)

Umm, how did you crack your jaw?????!!!!! Jeesh, leave you boys alone for a minute and this is what happens...

I'll have to check that out tomorrow morning. alexis_laforge August 7 2007, 06:14:22 UTC
I'm going to let this med take me to bed, right now, though. The way it happened was that I slipped while moving a freezer and cracked my jaw against it. Very painful.

Anyway, hope to have planted a painfully good idea in your head. Let's see what comes!

No-no- the idea story has happened- I think you may have missd it. The last of the Five No's! Finally! Ayuh. Course it also follows up on the question of what would happen if Jayne let lose on Mal... so he does >;0)

*Huggles poor Alexis with his cracked jaw* gently of course!

Or at least confused, blurry drunk Mal, if not happy.

Re: PS ceslas August 7 2007, 06:14:21 UTC
More accurate, yes. Mal does confused drunk well I think. Happy? Not so much. Blurry? Kind of yeah. Jayne on the other hand- drinks like a fish, but stays pretty lucid I think. He just seems that type. He can act all blurry and drunk, but if he is needful, he can snap back pretty well- unless he is truly sozzled; then all bets are off... and he is a big guy to have to drag home.

But here, here Jayne has had enough, is not willing to go down that road... Wise man.

I like that Inara knows immediately what River's talking about and Mal's total incomprehension.

Jayne is being very strong here and it shows he's growing even when spiralling.

Ooo, spiralling is such a good word for what is happening with Jayne! Yes. I love that you picked that out. Yes, he is trying.

Mal has troubles when he is sober, drunk? All bets are off. >;0)

And of course Inara knows- it is patently obvious to the women what is happening... they may not like it, but they know what it is.

“She means to let sleeping bears lie Mal.” Inara supplied helpfully.

Hot women who understand metaphor are so hot! [/shallow]

Seriously, she's so Mal's... are there lobsters in space?

I love Jayne here, and River's quiet sort of protective strength - and the fact that Jayne knows what's enough? Yeah, that's my our boy, knowing himself even if he doesn't at the same time, and I hope that somehow made sense - I'm awake, but barely, and waiting for my coffee to kick in. I like the mellow feel to this one, and I so completely love River here, I just can't say that enough, how much I love her dialogue here.

River's quiet sort of protective strength

I am really interested in watching that develop with the life they have. Especially with the young fella coming into the picture soon. She kind of bounces from very logical and feminine power to a lack of control that gets almost hysterical or incredibly deadly depending on the situation.

knowing himself even if he doesn't at the same timeI feel that all the time. He is so not wanting to have to think about it, tries to avoid it and he can't. There just isn't time or space for him to pretend it isn't a problem. He is a man who is confronted daily with his own lack of power over his own reactions. For him to step back, walk away and control that is to me, incredibly sexy. Yup, that's what pulls me to a person: strength in the face of odds that are always stacked against you, that you will never overcome and in fact will overwhelm you, potentially, eventually destroying you as it does. Jayne's demons will always end up winning- it is the way of demons, but he is not going to go gently. Dylan ( ... )

I love the idea that Jayne might be having trouble processing things after the BDM, and drink is a perfect way to show it. And Mal's huh at River speak.

Mal is so adorable when he is drunk because he is a pleasant drunk (Thankfully!) and I don't think he realizes, especially when he is being all pleasant, that Jayne is not necessarily the same.

River-speak is fun and exciting to figure out for me, I hope it works for others!
