Hmm, wonder what Jayne's reasons were.

Now I feel guilty about not emailing my friend in Afghanistan.

Jayne's reasons are often many and varied. We rarely get to see them in full...

And it is never too late to email your friend. They will appreciate it no matter what day it is. Truth be told, I think we ought to be doing a whole lot more memorialzing than on just this one day.

Thanks for your always supportive comments... nice to know they touch folks!

The problem is that I don't really know what to say to him. Our last email conversation seemed to end on a rather unhappy note and I can't tell if he's mad at me. To make matters worse, he's technically my ex and I think he wants to get back together again while I don't think that's a good idea.

I was thinking of sending him episodes of Firefly. What do you think of that?

Sorry for dumping all that on you. I really do love your snapshots of Jayne and River even though I don't always comment. Sometimes I'm just too much in the *wow* to say anything.

Wow works >:0)... I keep thinking there should be a handshake rule: Read something? Comment, even a single word, wow, guh, oops, ick...something? No?

Hmm.. well, Firefly is never a bad idea. I have met my fair share of servicemen who enjoy the show for the same reasons anyone who is a Browncoat loves it.

Be polite, be warm, but do not indicate a desire for more. A simple "Thinking of you and yours doing your best to see another day. I am grateful on behalf those I love for your sacrifices."... or something like that.. I hope you can find a way to move forward as friends, or at least as supportive of one another and cherish the good memories, let the bad ones lie where they fell.

The wit and wisdom of Jayne Cobb. alexis_laforge May 29 2007, 04:33:00 UTC
“Nah, memorializin’ goes better when ya share it.”

He's right, of course. It's not memorializing if you don't share, after all. :)

I mean, if only one remembers, then what happens when that one can't anymore? Hmph. I need to write about the War.

Man ain't as stupid as he appears I find. He may have a rough hewn manner, but it is solid to the core, knows he is one of many who came before. And I conjure he knows he will influence those who come after as well. His decisions determined where he is, where he will go and who and how he is remembered. Memorial Day is one of the most important celebrations of the year for me. Each year I attempt to move in the direction of those honorable folk who went before me.

perfect picture/icon.

You've got the voices of course, always.

And it's true moment between to people, between those to men.

Feels like a missing scene...

Thanks darlin'.. literally came to me while walking my dogs in the woods and thinking about the Gettysburg Address... I had a piece of paper to hand and a pen and there it was, almost done after crushing pine needles under foot, feeling sunlight on my shoulders and knowing that I enjoy freedom because of better folk than I.

And the story of how it came about is GREAT because I can see it (having been somewhere near that path)!

I can see it! :-D

You have indeed >:0) Dogs running, playing and full of life.

What we hold dear should remind us to be thankful of those who sacrificed all for us to have it.

Thank you. *Bows head*

I figure Jayne feels as much as any of us, but he keeps it under wraps most of the time. But when it really matters, he lets it slip just a little.

"you passed the 'a drink' mark about two bottles ago is what it looks like". What a typical Mal comment!

I like the use of just dialogue here and also enjoy the thoughts of both Mal & Jayne.

That one just came so easily because once I saw it was Mal it was exactly what he sounded like to me.

Thank you for the support. Memorial Day is a very important day to me. I can't explain it, but it just resonates with me.
