Francois Arnaud gave an interview recently in which he talks about what he'd like to see in store for Cesare (and C/L) in season 3...most relevant excerpts below under the cut.
i agree with the mature development he mentioned. just the other day i was talking about that. i feel like at first he was smitten and it came from a slightly more protective, brotherly way. but as she got older, married, had a kid, divorced, i think his view of her changed. he saw her as a woman and the way he acted had more jealousy in it. jealous in the boyfriend way. and the physical attraction increased too. his tenderness and being affectionate with her has remained though.
love that gif. And how he huged/looked at Lucrezia in that scene. For the relationship I reckon it will be more tortured in their rapport. Right now it's very romanticized in their minds in that they think they'd do anything for each other and that no one can come in between them.
If Alfonso does, it will force them or at least Cesare to confront his own feelings for his "love"
Hmm, I hope it doesn't become TOO tortured, lol! Although now that Cesare has gotten what he wants in terms of his life ambitions, he needs something new to angst over (FA is just so good at it! :p)--so I'd be down with Lucrezia being the new source of his angst, and him confronting the true nature of his feelings for her! :D Though I hope she will still have room in her heat for him too...(Event though I think his feelings have always been stronger/more overt anyway).
Well I usually look at the pilot to figure these things out and yeah the message is clearly that Cesare loves Lucrezia more... So this will inevitably play out in the show.
Although he managed to only hate/kill her husband because he had hurt her (and not Paolo, because he had been kind to her), I think it's about to change if he feels their special bond is actually threatened.
I doubt however they'll ever be 100% explicit with that relationship...

Lol, there was a reason we decided to call this comm "cesare_lucrezia" instead of "lucrezia_cesare"...;)
