• Mom is coming home next week. Only for a few days, but it will be nice to see her. I might go to NYC for spring break-we talked about it briefly last night-so that would be nice. I miss all my friends there! Tomorrow is Mom's birthday and she won't be here for it, but we've planned to talk tomorrow, so that will be nice. I have her gift hidden in ( Read more... )

Well A LOT in the Bible doesn't make sense to me, and I wouldn't mind talking about the "wtf" about Jesus up there. I was brought up Catholic so I might be able to offer my Catholic spin on things... could be fun.

Also... what Nietzsche text are you reading? We just started Zarathustra... I'm not a big fan.

Email me about it. I will type up my thoughts now that we're done reading it. All that's left... is tons of commentary. *dies*

We're reading The Birth of Tragedy for my Language (Ancient Greek) class. We just finished translating The Bacchae, so now we read what Nietzsche has to say about tragedy. It's interesting but hard.

I read a bunch of Nietzsche in high school-including Zarathustra-but I remember nothing about it. (Like most of the things from my program that I read in high school, actually. I remember most of the Shakespeare. That... might be it.)

Yeah, Nietzsche hurts the brain. We're actually not even reading all of Zarathustra, just parts. I am thankful. I don't remember that much from high school either. :P

Near the beginning of Zarathustra there's a (symbolic) dragon named Thou Shalt. One of the Havemercy dragons is named Thoushalt, right? Thought that was interesting.

I'm pretty sure that the two dragons in Havemercy that are named from bits of prayers are Compassus and Havemercy. Thou Shalt Not is a band, though. Maybe you're thinking of that?
