Oh hell yeah. Thanks to the fun of IUI, IVF, and two high-risk pregnancies, I've had more transvaginal ultrasounds than I can count. And yeah, we made the jokes and threatened to bring Barry White on CD and yadda yadda, but I simply can't imagine being coerced into that procedure. It would be beyond horrible.
It's an unpleasant procedure at the best of times and once you're pregnant it's often actively painful. I know usually they switch to the belly one at about 20 weeks, but I can say from experience that if they're concerned about preterm labor, they'll often keep doing the transvaginal one. Ugh. And a double ugh.
Hey, let's just hope nobody tells the male legislators about the ultrasound I can't remember the name of that involves squishing the belly probe up against the clitoris. They'd be all over that one...um, do I mean figuratively or literally? Not sure in this case which one it would be.
This law has already taken affect in TX and the end result is that the rate of women coming back for their appointments 24 hrs following the u/s is exactly the same as the rate of women showing up after making initial appointments before the u/s was required. BUT those women are now pissed because their judgment is being questioned and they have to make, show up for, and pay for 2 appointments instead of one
