Inspired by thinking about Babylon 5. If you've never watched the show, Garibaldi spends much of the first episode trying to find someone to share his second favorite thing in the universe (his favorite being obvious). This turns out to be watching Daffy Duck cartoons

Chloe Sullivan's second favourite is coffee. Plain brewed coffee from the diner down the street from Isis Foundation. After sugary faux-Starbucks drinks all through high school at teh talon, she has found a new appreciation for an incredibly fresh hot brewed cup of coffee with cream, no sugar. It reminds her why she started drinking coffee in the first place, over the Daily Planet with her dad on Sunday mornings, after her mom left them. Stormer's second favourite is ice-cream. Everything from two scoops on a sugar cone in the dead of summer where it melts almost faster than you can eat it, to ginormous sundaes with every topping known to man, to cheap Drumsticks you'd get from sidewalk vendors that randomly show up trolling your neighbourhood with little bells attached to the rolling carts. (Her first favourite thing is that moment when the new song finally clicks).

Depending when you ask her, Parker's second favorite thing might be the box of historically-important and very shiny pieces of eight that took her five months and some technical innovations to obtain. Or it might be the feeling in her stomach when she jumps headfirst from someplace really high, before she feels the drag of the gear that will catch her. Or it might be Hardison's toes, peeking out from under her blanket (she never tucks in her blankets or sheets -- that would limit her escape routes) when she comes back from the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Henry Gondorff's second favorite thing is taking care of his crew. He makes sure they're paid off after the con, makes suggestions to the younger ones about who to learn from, puts cash into the envelopes to mail to his families. If he weren't a grifter, he thinks he'd like one big family, all together in one place, and he'd sit at Sunday dinner and watch his wife and the kids and grandkids and in-laws and feel proud of what he's made. But he is a grifter, so the sit-down Sunday dinners are rare, and most of his kids (if they are his kids -- he's not going to argue, but it'd be a miracle if they're all his) have never met each other, because if God is watching out for him then none of his wives will ever even hear of each other. And thus far, other than that Federal rap, God has been good to him, leading plenty of fat suckers right up to his doorstep and mostly keeping him out of the way of the heavy rackets.
