Something Fun:
Rythter and I are going to go see Hal Holbrook portray Mark Twain at the Weymouth High School this month.  Yay! We are taking himself to this 'once in a lifetime event'. I say once in a lifetime because quite frankly, how much longer does Hal Holbrook have? I love Twain, and this should be great fun. I think I read it was Mark Twain's

You didn't use a power mower? What did you use, one of those old rotary blade mowers? I didn't know they even still made those.

That is exactly what I used. I have two 'rusty' reel mowers that I aquired at our "swap shop" at the dump. One is a bit more modern (by the way, they still make them and sell them for big bucks) http://peoplepoweredmachines.com/ and the other is a bit older and heavier. I use the newer one. I have a 60'x 100' piece of property, so minsus the house wich is 24x36 with the porch and that is what I have to mow. Don't ask me to do the math. It's half flat, with a slight sloap in the back that is a challenge if the grass gets high, but it takes me the same ammount of time to mow it basically, and I don't have that roar to contend with, and I save one gallon of gas for the season. Yeah, not much, but I am saving the world the only way I can. And trying to set an example. That is what I think when I think of a responce to people who look at me funny for using a reel mower. "I'm saving the world".

Thanks. Wait till you see my rain barrel! Hmmm, actually it might be put away by Halloween, so it doesnt freeze. It's so ugly it's beautiful! I have to find a hanging plant to put on it in the spring.
So can I interest you in a reel mower?????
