One mans trash.... is probably still trash.

I found a Kodascope Model C 16mm movie projector in the trash today. Well, the non-trash. It's in it's original case, with a few extras, but the bulb is burn out, and there is no power cord. Also no actual movie reels, just empty ones. But still, it's a cool machine. It has the feel and smell and weight of an old typewriter. Not sure what I'm going ( Read more... )

Flutes are pretty fragile. You may have some bent rods. A good repairman should be able to fix it, though.

What brand is it?

The case says "Paris Evette by Buffet".
I did get one rod? back in place, a screw had backed out and I put that in. One tiny wire is missing that springs the key back into place.I think that is all that is wrong now.
Now I need to find something that shows me where the heck my fingers should be. A recorder is much easier. But it does have a nice sound.

Yes, "rod" is the correct term. And the "tiny wire" is called, appropriately enough, a "spring". Any instrument repair guy can replace the spring without a fuss. He'll probably want to coax you into a pad job (replacing and seating all the pads) as well, and frankly it could probably use it.

Buffet is a company most well known for their clarinets. In fact some of their models are considered the Steinways of the clarinet world. They don't seem to promote their flutes very much, so if they're still even making them, it's probably just student models.

I did find one reference to a solid silver Evette flute. Are you sure this one is only plated? I also looked around for a serial # listing to see if we could find out how old it is, but I haven't had any luck there. Apparently Buffet is only interested in posting serial # listings for their professional models. Oh well.
